Guest guest
Dear , I had asked for the prescription because I was working still at the time and often found myself having to scurry along the walls so I would have something to help me keep my balance when walking. My doctor actually didn't feel that I was " bad enough " to need a cane, but then, he never has nor still feels that I am as bad off as I say I am, despite what all my other doctors who are specialist have written. Its my fault that I didn't actually get the prescription filled because of denial I guess. My reasoning was that if I started depending on assistant devices, I would go down hill faster, ergo, only get it when I couldn't not avoid it. I am taking your advice to heart though and I will need a new prescription as I am sure the other is too old now. Since I no longer am able to drive, I have to walk from bus stop to my destination and there are no walls to support myself on if I have a moment when I feel like I am off balance. No more denial about canes from me, I promise. I am glad you mentioned the proper fitting of it because I already have problems with a frozen shoulder and I don't want to lose the use of my arms or cause further damage. That never occurred to me.
