Checking In - Need update on Suzanne - Need some help/ideas

Hello Group;

Melodie from Colusa here. Checking in. Had surgery with Dr. K on

June 19, 2002. Coming up on my 2 year anniversary. started at 300

lbs. and got to 150 in December 2003. I have maintained since

December 150-155. I would have liked to get to 140 but can live

with 150. Wearing 12's and mediums pretty much all the time.I have

had two hernia surgeries and one obstructed bowel in the two year

period. I have lots of saggy skin but another surgery is NOT IN THE

PLAN.I am terrified of regain. I have been a sweet tooth since

surgery. Lately I have been eating huge quantities of food.

Sometimes to the point of getting sick. Some days I feel great.

Other days I can barely get through work. I am exhausted. I am

faithful about my vitamins. Water has become more of an issue in the

last several months and it NEVER was before. I exercise fairly

regularly with my exercise of choice being yoga. People tell me I

look great. I would like to be 145-150 and am terrified of creeping

back up to 170-180. Most of my erratic eating comes when I am alone

and in the late afternoon and evenings. I try and snack to hold off

hunger but when I get home I go nuts!!

I am hoping for some insight.

Suzanne W. I would like an update from you.

Fiber: I eat Metamucil crackers several times a week and this has

helped with restroom issues. I am 4 or 5 bowel movements in about

the first hour after I wake up and then I am fine.

Please advise me on how to stop the crazy eating. I am looking to

you all for support. It is so depressing to be depressed at 155#'s

I truly thought my life would be perfect if I just lost the weight.

Hi Melodie!

My heart goes out to you! I know just what you mean when you say

you thought life would be perfect after weight loss. But, as Dr. K

always says, he can fix our bodies but not our minds. I've got a

real problem with sweets myself. What I've done in the last couple

of weeks is bought lots of fancy cheeses (I love cheese) and whipped

yogurt and nuts. I find that if my sweet tooth is acting up, the

whipped yogurt helps and it's so light and fluffy that my tongue

really enjoys the texture. If the yogurt doesn't do it, I'll have

the cheese or nuts. Sometimes I find that salty snacks will help

stave off the desire for sugar. It doesn't always work and I

haven't done too well but I keep trying. I've gained 4 pounds

(ack!) in the last month or so and I'm determined to get those 4

pounds off, along with a few more. I do NOT want to go back to

wearing size 16 pants again. Today I got a little bit of a boost by

doing some clothes shopping. I was still able to fit into size 14

jeans and I bought two really cute summer tops and it helped to

remind me how far I've come.

But, hey, you said yourself that you've maintained to this point so

don't get overly stressed until you really need to. Find those

snacks that you really like that aren't sugar laden (low carb

desserts can REALLY help) and keep them stocked in your house and at

work so you always have something quick to grab to curb those

cravings. It's good for all of us to cut down on those sugars and

I'll keep you in my thoughts that you're able to do so.

I here you about being exhausted and the sweets. I do think they are linked .

I will be two years in one month and I to still eat at the wrong times and to

much , mostly when I have had a stressful day I stay up late and eat junk and

the next day I am so angry with my self . losing the wt was the easy part for

me , working on my head is the hard part this I feel will take a lot longer

than the wt loss . sometimes I think I eat to test myself and there are still

times I don't feel I deserve to be thin . so I just take it one day at a time

knowing that it will take more than a few over eating episodes to sabotage the

DS . knowing this of my self is one of the reasons I went with the DS. I wish

I had some good advise on how to ward of the crazy eating but just try and not

make your self to crazy over it and remember you are not alone .

how is the taste of the fiber crackers?

I hope you continue to due well and your wt loss is amazing take care amber
