Guest guest Posted June 21, 2009 Report Share Posted June 21, 2009 How would I be causing an inconvenience because you dont want a dog near you? Life is full of inconveniences, but thats life. When did society decide that nobody should ever have to be inconvenienced? The airline most likely would not move you or me simply because you dont want a crated animal near you...now for an allergy they will move whichever person is easier to move...which would likely boil down to how many people are travelling in each party and is least disruptive to move. I pay a pretty penny to put my cats on the floor of the plane under a seat...their "ticket" costs almost as much as ours, PLUS I have to get a certificate of health from the vet that says they can travel, another 140.00 although the airline has yet to ask me for proof of it. I understand for some people there are some issues...but I do believe the lung association is blowing this way out of proportion. We fly Airtran when we fly b/c it has the most reasonable pet fees. They allow 3 pets on their planes at any given time. Its not like everyone on the plane can get on board with their pet. You have to make advance arrangements (which means we also dont get the cheap airfares you can find on the net) and inform them ahead of time that you are bringing an animal on board. And...even if their arent pets in the cabin, theres very likely a possibility that there ARE animals in the cargo holds depending where you fly from and what time of year it is. And you can have the same reactions to the dander in the air from the cargo holds as whats in the cabins...its just that in the cabins its on peoples minds more because they see it.
