Allergy or viral infection?

s tongue is whitish with red raw patches. Some patches look more

like red pimples with little white heads. He is very fussy, frequently

whining and hardly eating anything as his tongue is probably hurting.

He doesn't have any fever nor other flu symptoms. 3 or 4 weeks ago he

had this for the first time and it went for about 5 days until it

cleared up by itself. Does anyone know what this is?
