Guest guest
Good morning everyone, Please see below for an interesting opportunity. If you are interested in submitting a paper, please follow the submission requirements below. J. Aguiar Mayo Clinic Arizona From: jrrodrig@... [mailto:] SentTo: Aguiar, J.Subject: special journal issue Hi , I am co-editing a special issue of Progress in Transplantation (see announcement below) and wondered if you or someone else within TFCA would be interested in submitting a paper re patient education on the financial aspects of transplantation or a paper focused on educating transplant professionals about transplant issues (insurance, Medicare, etc.). While we have an “open call” for papers, we’re also soliciting specific individuals and topics for the special issue. We’re committed to having an article on some aspects of the financial issues in transplantation, if possible. Please let me know if this is of interest to you or any members of TFCA. If so, we can discuss further. Thanks. Jim Special Issue Announcement, Progress in Transplantation Education in Transplantation and Organ Donation Progress in Transplantation is planning to publish (December, 2008) a special issue on Education in Transplantation and Organ Donation. Education plays a pivotal role in day-to-day practices throughout all transplant centers and organ procurement organizations. Novel and innovative educational strategies have been developed for pediatric and adult transplant patients and their families, living donors, the lay public, and transplant professionals. These strategies are designed to effectively and efficiently communicate complex information, allowing individuals to make informed choices about their own healthcare or the healthcare of others. Written materials continue to be used extensively, but more interactive and technology-driven educational approaches have emerged. The transplant and organ donation communities would benefit from more widespread sharing of these innovative and effective educational strategies, which serves as the primary impetus for this special issue. This special issue will focus on the education of (1) pediatric and adult transplant patients (e.g., developmental considerations, health literacy, expanded criteria donors, cross-cultural education), (2) living donors (e.g., informed consent processes), (3) the general public (e.g., strategies to increase organ donation), and (4) transplant professionals. We will consider manuscripts that describe innovative strategies, as well as original research and review articles. Editors for the special issue will be Amy Waterman, Ph.D. from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO and Jim Rodrigue, Ph.D. from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston MA. Please direct any inquiries to awaterma@... or to jrrodrig@.... You may also contact Ohler, Editor at lindaohler@.... Manuscripts should be submitted electronically to lindaohler@.... Manuscript submissions are due by March 1, 2008. Please include a cover letter stating that you would like your manuscript considered for this special issue. Author guidelines are available upon request. R. Rodrigue, Ph.D.Beth Israel Deaconess Medical CenterThe Transplant Center110 Francis Street, LMOB - 7th Floor Boston, MA 02215 (fax)jrrodrig@...
