Guest guest Posted March 23, 2003 Report Share Posted March 23, 2003 Autism Society of Ohio March 22, 2003 The Autism Society of Ohio (ASO) is looking for several persons diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder ages 15 or older who may be interested in speaking on a panel to share from their own perspective of what it is like being diagnosed with autism. This panel will be part of the ASO conference which will be held on October 17th, and 18th, 2003, in Toledo, Ohio. The panel is in need of teenagers who are of both, male and or female and within the age range of 15 to age 19 and who are willing and able to respond to questions asked of them from the audience. Parents can assist their child and can speak out on behalf of the child if you would prefer your child not answer a specific question. Other wise parents are to encourage their teen to respond on their own, and in their own words. Not only will the panel consist of teens on the spectrum, but also adults. We are looking for both men and woman diagnosed with an ASD as well from ages 20 years of age and up. Some of the questions asked from the audience may be personal, each and every participant on the panel has a right to chose if they will answer the question or waive their right to answer. Adults too may utilize a support person if they so choose. Grade level: or if adult please share if you are employed: 4. Your interests: 5. Life goals: 6. What you would like to see changed in the areas of education, employment, and or society, in regards to your autism. 7. A one page, no more than 250 words, essay on how you feel about yourself as a person with autism. If you are under the age of 18 you must have a parent signature to participate. Not all applicants will be accepted. If the ASO is interested in having you serve on this panel you will be contacted and informed of our interest.
