Hi Amy:

I am so sorry to hear of your problems with pain. I didn't realize that one

could have difficulty getting healthcare in the UK. Isn't there universal

health coverage for UK residents? I thought the US was the only country where

one had to get health insurance through one's employer or else buy a policy on

one's own. The morphine pump is a helpful device for many people who have lots

of pain, but isn't the answer in every case by any means. Many people have more

success with the Duragesic patch which eliminates the need to have something

implanted inside the body. If you aren't getting helped with your pain by the

morphine you presently take, I'm not sure that the pump would be a good choice

for you. It would probably be better to find out what all the available options

are before committing to the pump.

Good luck with this and I hope you find a way to ease your pain very soon.

Take care!

Thanks

We do have the national health service which is a free service to

everyone but the waiting lists can be so long i.e. I had to wait 10

months in between seeing surgeons just to discuss my options.. The best

way to is to pay privately but that can be so expensive. The operation I

need would cost be ?10,000 (Sterling Pounds) I don't have that kind of

money so that gets me down.

I am trying again at work this week to do part time hours and yesterday

I decided to cut out the morphine tablets as they were not doing

anything. - Was much about the same. Took some tablets to help me sleep

as I always feel better when I have a good sleep.

Take Care
