Zoloft Making her Hot?

As many of you know, my daughter had been diagnosed with OCD in late

December. However, the OCD was most likely a manifestation of the

extreme anxiety/manic behavior that some people suffer as an adverse

reaction to the drug Reglan. Her psychiatrist (who had initially

said her taking of Reglan at the time of her attack was mere

coincidence) now concedes that her " attack " was partly if not all

caused by Reglan. Nevertheless, she is still on zoloft. When

increased to 100, she was agitated and we brought her down to 75.

her behavior was much improved, with no OCD or anxiety present.

However, she had difficulty falling asleep and would take off her

PJ's because she was hot. I asked her doc whether reducing Zoloft

would improve these conditions, he said he didn't think so and that

he would keep her on 75 and then rapidly reduce her off the Zoloft,

over two weeks in the summer. Hmmmm. Rapidly reduce? NOT. I started

to reduce her this month to 62.5. She's even calmer than before! She

goes to sleep and hour earlier (10:30 instead of 11:30) and

complained that she was cold and needed her " feety-pajamas " . She

also stopped complaining of itchy skin. This makes me think that the

heat/insomnia/itchiness may have indeed been a Zoloft side effect and

(contrary to what the doc said), lowering it ever so slightly did

make matters improve. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

My 12 year old daughter has not been on Zoloft, but on Celexa she

has had similar symptoms...hot (feeling like she had a fever),

difficulty sleeping. We've adjusted her dose down about 5 days ago,

so I haven't noticed much change yet...although she hasn't

complained of being hot. Certainly Zoloft can cause similar

symptoms (according to the PDR). You may be on to something in your

daughter...
