Kristy,

there will be more marathons. You only have only one body that you have to

take care of. Do you have sandy urine? or several larger stones?

Kristy you have nothing to feel petty about. This is YOUR

disappointment, your health worries......

I'm so sorry your not going to be able to achieve your goal of

running in a marathon...but I am soooooo proud that it WAS a goal

that you had been working towards. You set your standards high and

you soar.......

Keep us informed with your kidney issues. We can all learn. What

does your strict diet consist of??? I just read an article in a

nutrition publication on Kidney stones.

Here's the highlights:

drinking an average of 13 1/2 cups of fluid a day cut the stone risk

in women by 32%

9 cups a day cut the risk by 20%

Women wo got the most calcium from foods (1300 mg) had a 27 percent

lower risk of stones than women who got only 540 mg. Calcium

supplements had no impact on risk.

Phytate (found largely in beans and whole-grain cereals and breads)

seemed to protect kidneys. In contrast, eating sugar was linked to

a higher risk.

What to do: drink more fluids, avoid excess sugar and eat more

beans, whole grains and (low fat) dairy.

:::::end of article info::::::

Kristy, you are so sweet to be thinking of while you're having

your own misery. You're both in my prayers. Don't worry, you'll

get another chance to do the marathon. Just take of yourself.

Hugs!
