Hi Betsy! I hope you don't think I am a crackpot, but I have a suggestion for easing the pain, numbness and tingling of carpal tunnel (in fact, several people have been able to avoid the surgery, one of them, my hubby, with this tip). Squeeze a ball (my husband uses a tennis ball, but it is too large for my hand) over and over. Do it several times a day and the pain should lessen or go away completely. My friend, who is a transcriptionist, also was able to avoid surgery and the pain, numbness and tingling went away completely. She now keeps her ball (Eyore's head, in her case) by her computer to use as needed. I hope you find this helps (and you don't write me off completely as a weirdo)! Now, when he knows he is going to do work that will cause a flare-up, he will start with the ball in advance and nary a problem will he have! So, I don't think it is ever too late! > > > How are you? Betsy ******************************************* The vac went by the way of the dinosaurs last Monday. My wounds are so shallow, now, although I still have some tunneling, that the vac seems pretty ineffective. I have to see *A* doctor this week, but I can't make it to Delano. My nurse recommended my PCP and my friend the RN, recommended a wound specialist. I have to call for a referral to a wound specialist tomorrow. We'll see what they have to say. Of course, if the consensus is surgery, I guess I will start down that road. However, the nurse says she doesn't even see how the large one could be repaired with surgery (but she's not a surgeon). It is just a very strange configuration. The smallest of the wounds is nearly healed (down to .3 centimeters deep, and closing from the ends), the middle one (the deepest at 1.5 cm) is closing up rapidly and even coming up from the bottom...so the trick will be keeping that one open so it can heal on the inside, first. The big one (right side, at top of leg/bottom of abdomen) is my " problem child. " It has a roll of skin that curls into it, it is quite large (larger than my hand, including fingers), but so shallow. It has one " shelf " that is deeper, but the rest of the wound is filled with tissue up to the top, so it is only about .2 cm deep. Sounds like it should heal in a minute, but it doesn't wanna! Unfortunately the " shelf " has to heal before the rest will close, so I really do need some advice. I wish the trip to Delano weren't impossible at this point in time. Anyway, thanks for asking. I'll be praying for your hubby on the 26th (and you, too). Hugs and blessings, Ann
Guest guest
Ann... you are certainly not a weirdo in my book! Thanks for the hint... I think it is past exercising...there is severe wasting of the thenar(thumb) muscles, and the horrible test that does nerve conduction studies showed seriously slowed nerve function. My hand wakes me up in the middle of the night. How are you? And the vacuum? Are you going to follow Dr K's recommendation and get your incision fixed? I'd be chicken too- but also anxious to be finished with the TT traumas. Keep us posted please.
