Guest guest
Hi, If the recipient does not have Part B, then physician services for the donor will not be covered by Medicare nor will any other service that would normally be Part B with the exception of Hospital in or outpatient services. We believe that the responsibility is that of the recipient and none of the billing should go to the donor. Thanks, Bill From: TxFinancialCoordinators [mailto:TxFinancialCoordinators ] On Behalf Of Luz Sent: Wednesday, March 14, 2007 12:54 PM To: TxFinancialCoordinators Subject: Re: Donor complications....again! If the recipient don't have Part B, nothing related to the donor will be covered. Remember all the donor testing and the IP physicians visits are covered by the Part B, w/o coverage no payment. Recipeint choose not to pay for the Part B, that's the reason he don't have it, and if he choose to Medicare will not pay anything. Now, if he want to have coverage for the Part B, he will have to call SSA before March 30,07 to enroll into Part B, but this one will not be in effect till July 1/07. If the transplantation is done, Medicare will not come back retro to pay for it, recipient should be responsible for all the expenses, since his/her group insurance did not covered. >>> Sherri.SbalbiBHS (DOT) Org 03/14 11:32 AM >>> Hi all.... Sorry to beat a dead horse but.... We have a recipient w/Mcare A only & group health insurance. Why pt doesn't have part b is a whole other issue we have been trying to resolve for the past year. The living donor has been having complications on and off for about a year. I understand that Medicare A bill pay for donor complications related to inpatient services, but what about part B services? Part B providers (anesthesia, radiology, etc) have been contacting us stating the EGHP will not pay for his compliations. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
