It’s not just Target, by any means, but it does appear only to

be a procedure that applies to ground beef:

I buy organic when I can, but I don’t eat a whole lot of meat

anyway. I don’t buy processed, prepared or fast food (except, occasionally, a

slice of pizza from the local pizzeria), but there’s always a risk of food

contamination, no matter what you do.

We used to buy our meat at super target. One time we

shopped on Sunday and put the meat in our fridge. It was the type of

ground beef that comes shrink wrapped you buy by the pound? We took the

meat out to cook it on Tuesday only to find that the meat was solid green.

We took the meat back up to target and spoke with the manager. It

turns out that they put a type of ammonia in the meat to preserve it. If

there is even the tiniest of pinholes in the plastic, the air will get in and

spoil the meat. At least that's what we were told. Needless to say

we no longer shop at target for meat. On an unrelated note, we also

bought egg rolls one time in the deli section at target where they keep the

shrink-wrapped prepared foods near the cheeses. We both got the worst

food poisoning we ever got from them. We both were one step away from

driving to the ER. Gross!

I posted about the hormones they put in meat

that are unregulated. Glad to see someone else is also concerned. How can we

stop these strange allergies??? I've been to two allergists with no results, so

it's gotta be in an untested food, additive, preservative, dye, or a medicine

w/ same.

Read Texas Thyroid's (Jan) post right under mine (W5EAK) around 12:15 a.m. on

Oct. 22.

She answered the question, so it is up to us to find out which supermarket or

meat packer puts the hormones in the beef before we buy it. What if it's the

farmers??

We can't change that!! And I am a Blood O+ Stone Age meat eater for protein and

iron!!! I sure hope we're not screwed.

I'll ask DH to check next time the brands, maybe that's it. ??

Do you have any other ideas??
