Guest guest
Hi , I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling so poorly. I wonder if you might have Sjogren's Syndrome? http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/s/sjogrens_syndrome/intro.htm http://www.medicinenet.com/sjogrens_syndrome/article.htm It is also a disorder related to EN. It is something you might ask your doctor about. Perhaps eyedrops or the flaxseed oil might help. I do hope you get some relief soon! Guest guest
hi linda, maybe you have been reading the posts between karen and i? you want to go see an opthamologist and if you have done that, get blood tests to check for things like your sed rate. your sx's sound like inflammation. uveitis and episcleritis are just two of the types available (and we have other models to choose from...sorry, couldn't help it, sounded strange when i typed that, decided to leave it). if your eyes are burning, red and you can see that the blood vessels in the scleritis are swollen...it IS inflammation, and there IS a reason why this is occuring. you want to take better care of your eyes than ........ even your teeth (again, thought popped in my head, sounded good so i left it...hee, hee). neither of mine (eye and teeth) are with a krap..lol. let me know what you will do. jeff Hi , > I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling so poorly. Guest guest
Hi , Quite a few yrs. ago I also had that gritty feeling in my eye. My former eye dr. said I had " dry eye " . I knew I didn't. I had gotten some clear colored facial scrub in my eye. He insited he saw nothing unusual in my eye, and gave me eye drops. The drops did flush out the " scrub " , and I was fine, but the point I am making is that the gritty feeling can be dry eye. This dr. also said dry eye could make my eyes tear, and that it could happen in only one eye. He seemed to know a lot about dry eye. Unless you have something in your eyes irritating them, it could indeed be dry eyes. Love,
Guest guest
hi linda, sooooo, did he do the test for it? see, this really ticks me off about docs. we should not have to be guessing. there is a dry eye test and it involves the nurse sticking these little treated papers on your eye lids and you get a rating. my rating is borderline dry even after a year of being on restatis. these things CAN be diagnosed. i was diagnosed because i would not leave the office until my doc had a clear plan on how to figure it out. i don't accept " i dunno " as an answer anymore. of course, i see docs now that know me well and also are not that way. but i have seen plenty that did nothing for me. whether it is dry eye, episcleritis, or anthing else, he/she has the tools to objectively dx the situation. be sure to push for it. just remember, it is your comfort level when leaving his/her office, not his/hers! jeff > > Thanks Jeff Saw an eye specialist last summer and he said I suffered with dry eyes but could find nothing else athough my eyes dont feel dry now I get that awfull gritty feeling as if there is something stuck in there and then the burning which makes my eyes stream like mad I am booked in to have my eyes checked next week and let you know what they say and by the way love your sense of humour. all the best

Guest guest
rebecca, just so you are aware, like i told linda, there IS a test for this. dry eye does NOT have to be a guessing game. love, jeff > > Hi , > Quite a few yrs. ago I also had that gritty feeling in my eye. Guest guest
Right, Jeff. Did I mention that this was my " former " eye dr? I have an excellent one now :-) He even knew what EN was and told me it was serious and could mean Crohn's. I was amazed that he mentioned this off the cuff. My current eye dr. buys all the newest conraptions for every kind of vision test, and he is not afraid to use them. It really annoys me that we have to put in so much effort to get the tests and treatments we deserve. Even when we have insurance it requires a lot of work. I have found a lot of incompetance in the medical field, and not just for complicated disorders. It seems I am always doing bettle with a doctor or the insurance company. So I agree that when you find a great doctor--hold on to him/her. They are getting rather rare. Love,

Guest guest
hi linda, oh, okay, cool. you might want to also follow up with your gp or a rheumy, preferably the latter, they are usually the docs that know the most about inflammation. jeff > > Yes Jeff they did the test on my eyes and they said it was dry eyes and they gave me artificial tears to use I had no burnining then but I do have my eyes checked every six months, usually in wales the normal period between eye sight checkups is 2 years, so they do keep and eye on me in that respect, have to go next week for a check up and I will mention the burning in my eyes and the redness which comes and goes Thanks again
