(Buzz) Many of them report having severe bouts of depression while

on painkillers temporarily following their knee surgery. It's a very

common phenomenon, and very frightening to some of these folks who

ordinarily do not have to deal with the challenges of pain and

depression.(Buzz)

Robin,

Thank you for the mention of the Depression also, as that is

also a Huge concern in the Chronic Pain Cycle. When my diagnosis was

given to me, I was also give a Label called Nonspecific Sever

Depressive Disorder Associated with Chronic Pain. Basically put, I

was depressed because I was constantly in pain and on Narcotics to

control that pain. Anytime you have a major change in your life, and

lifestyle and you are looked upon differently by your Friends,

coworkers and more importantly your own loved ones and there is

nothing you can do But Say that you are Sorry time and time again,

and still not do anything to improve the Problem You will be

depressed.

I saw a Phycitrist One day and he said wow, you really

are Depressed, I told him that I wanted to Change my answer about

Hurting anyone that he asked earlier in the session, when he asked

what I meant I told him that I did not think that I could stand

anymore to his blatant ignorance. That was the end of the meeting

and of course I had to go see the Full Bird Colonel after that, but

I was calmed down after that. However, the point is, everyone here

that Has a Chronic Pain disorder, Should I mean everyone unless you

are superman/superwoman should be on some sort or Anti

Depressant/counseling regimen?? Are we not all?

Whether it be one antidepressant or 6, or I we just have a great support

structure at home? We all must have it to live thru this, if you do not have

that

in place then you are not receiving the right treatment for Chronic

Pain! This is common practice by every Doctor that I have seen in

the past year and 3 months for my back and 3 years for my headaches.

Your Pain and your Depression goes hand in Hand if you treat one

without the other it is like blowing a Balloon up with a hole in it

or filling a bucket with water with no bottom in it. One will never

achieve the full benefit without the other! Have a great day, anyone

needing to Vent themselves in a more open forum I have started my

own Pain Support Group that will include Live Chats, and Polls

Daily. You can find it by searching for Major_Chroinic_Pain on yahoo
