Guest guest
Patient turned 65 January 2007 so started Medicare A only then along with his retirement group health plan (BCBS of Rhode Island) – BC lists Medicare as primary for inpatient/A services. [Not sure why he did not take Medicare B also in January — I will see him today and check in on that and also talk with his dialysis social worker.] He started hemodialysis 4/07 – should he notify Medicare of his new ESRD status? If yes, based on the ESRD would Medicare A remain primary or would there now be a coordination of benefit period? Thanks much!
