That is a nice story and I am always amazed at how raw life is after a death, it is razor sharp. Not just with the pain, but with everything. Its like we are forced to live in the moment. Guest guest
Yes. There is so much truth in this. What is important shifts around a bit. Today I got more in touch with the sweet part of bittersweetness. When I listened to the " How could anyone ever tell you you were anything less than beautiful.. " song today I had much different feelings. It is hard to explain the precise difference, because there was still some sadness - but it also held some sweetness. I went to the cemetary today - and at first it was shocking - they just kind of throw the dirt in a pile and have upside down flowers dumped on the grave - and it just looked so --- I don't know what.. but I knew she deserved better than to just have dirt piled all over her so unceremoniously. Then my guy friend started talking about how much Deb would have loved how her grave was so unique from all the rest - and how funny she would have thought it was... so I unruffled a bit. Okay..I thought.. this is the woman who kidnapped someone's sweater from work and held it hostage - and took the sweater all over Tulsa taking it's pictures at all the tourist sites. She loved to show the pictures of the sweater at the art museum, zoo, etc. This is the woman who took one of those " Missing Child " postcards you get in the mail and cut out a picture of Nick Nolte (when he was arrested) and put HIS picture in the " Have you Seen Me " place - and tacked it on her door to show her guests. This is the woman who had her neighbor do photo shoots of her as a " bathing beauty " - wearing a swim suit and black crew socks....even though it took a couple of guys to get her back up off the ground after she did the " bathing beauty pose. " This is the woman who crawled in a second story window to rescue a cat after it had been left behind by former tenants. This is a woman who took care of all the stray dogs and cats in the area and found them homes (even if it was in her apartment). This is the woman who gleaned blankets and clothing from the apartment complex's dumpster - washed them - and then personally took them out to give them to homeless people on cold winter nights ..crawling through barbed wire fences in ice storms to get them there. This is the woman who ran extension cords to her neighbors apartment - to share her electricity when theirs was shut off. Would how her dirt was arranged on her grave upset her???? Not a bit. Not one little bit. Free > And we smiled right back! That is a nice story and I am always > amazed at how raw life is after a death, it is razor sharp. Not just > with the pain, but with everything.
