I think we need to take Shane's info in the spirit it was offered, as

a treatment that worked for him, and might help others. And we need to

be cautious as Jim recommends because we don't have all the facts and

obviously the vitamin treatment hasn't been scientifically studies.

I don't think it is really a question of being open-minded or not.

Autoimmunity is a very complicated affair. It is also possibly tied in

with genetics.

There are about 100 different triggers for EN alone. What works for

one of us, has absolutely no affect on another.

Some of us like Jim, owe or lives to modern medicine. Others like you,

Shane, have had a horrible experience with it.

It does no good to debate the issue, as there is no one answer for

everyone. Those who are unhappy with western medicine may wish to try

something else. If you are on meds and doing ok, please don't drop it.

Especially don't stop taking predinisone as it has to be tapered off

gradually.

Right now Shane may have an anecdotal report, not a scientific study.

But if enough anecdotal reports come in, science will eventually

investigate it. I don't think doctors want us to suffer. Drug

companies are in business to make money. But if a drug doesn't work or

harms, they must discontinue it.

You probably know that the active ingredient of marijuana [THC] has

been made into a pill called marinol. I hear it isn't as good as the

" real thing " , but it shows how drug companies do take what works and

try to mfg. it.

There really is no right or wrong. For some things modern medicine is

a lifesaver. For others it is not too effective.

You all know I keep us all up to date on Trevor Marshall's work with

sarc., even though it isn't mainstream. I also follow the LDN studies

for Crohn's and MS. Prehaps mega vitamin therapy is just another

weapon in our arsonal. Not for everyone, but for some.

I know feeings run very high on this issue, and we are all here to

learn from each other, not to make each other wrong or take sides. In

the end, we all decide what's best for ourselves after careful

consideration and possibly self experimentation.

Thank you . I think if someone finds something that works then they are totally devoted to that specific treatment. It may be hard for them to accept that for one cancer patient, chemo didn't cure them and they passed on, when in another case someone changed their life by doing colon cleanses and eating healthy, taking tons of vitamins, etc and now they are in remission and cancer free. It just doesn't make sense when we are told that doctors help us.

No, it's quite possible that it would work. I think having a positive attitude (which is hard for me when I am suffering) can do wonders in and of itself. I think it's great that it worked for you.
