Grace --

I took it for over a year and did not gain weight.

Hydrocortisone

a & anyone else,

Have you been able to take HC without gaining weight? I do feel it could

possibly help me, but I do not want to gain weight from taking it. I'm

wondering if that happens to most everyone, or just some people.

Thanks,

Grace

I was on hydrocortisone for 5 years. I gained 10-15 lbs pretty quickly and was unable to lose weight before I got off of it. I have managed to lose 10 lbs since getting off of it in October and have not noticed any difference in how I feel one way or the other since getting off hydrocortisone.

I have been on compounded HC for 2 years. I also gained over 15 pounds pretty quickly and have not been able to lose it. Many folks on the 's chat site comment that they gained weight on full replacement HC and get the 'buddha belly'. I can attest to that. It's discouraging since I have a flat tummy for 53 of my 55 years, but it is what it is.....

Hi Grace,

I did not gain weight from the hydrocortisone that I could tell. Actually the

HC helped me begin to better tolerate the thyroid supplementation and I was able

to increase the dosage over time so I guess that helped keep the weight at a

more optimal range. It is my understanding that an over abundance of the

corticosteroids (which physiologic HC REPLACEMENT dosage is NOT) is where you

would get into the weight gain range. The physiologic means that you are only

given the dose that your body shuld be making, not the horrendous doses that are

given for allergic emergencies or rheumatoid arthritis (which is a different

corticosteroid anyway). Simple answer - no i did nt gain weight from the HC,

only from exercising my arm toward my mouth too much and healthier eating habits

took care of that one!

Blessings from a
