Guest guest
Not off topic at all Carol. It seems like in ways the struggles to work through with our FOO are just the tip of the iceberg (which tip - top or bottom - I'm not sure). Notcing how these issues have affected the rest of our lives, healing from that, and working toward not letting it affect us so dramatically in the future - is also a big part of the healing. Guest guest
Hi Carol: I agree -- it is interesting to see how it " makes sense " when you recognize a certain mental illness or personality disorder. I have to deal with a woman in a church group is has a definite narcisistic personality -- it's almost like seeing that a wild animal has distemper or something -- you see the symptoms so clearly! I am finding it easier to avoid her, and she seems to be seeing that MY way is to avoid her. When she gets " nutty " like Nada, going on and on, I sneak away as fast as I can, or make an excuse and leave. Interesting....verrrry interesting! LOL Barb > To all.......... > > This will be boring, and maybe a bit off-topic, so I apologize, but I've > just GOT to share this. > > Part of our healing path is recognizing BPD-ness in the people we deal > with in every day life. Guest guest
Carol, Yes, it is funny how when you see the truth of the matter w/mental illness, you are able to identify it much, much more clearly in others. It is like a redflag saying 'hey, I know exactly the name for you and despite most people calling it an ahole, I know you're an NPD or BPD or whatever' Its funny you should mention astrology. Nada was super into it and I got really into it myself (actually I could be a professional one if I ever wanted to, but I did it just for fun and am trying to become more detached as I see now I use to do it for the ability to predict the future as nada was pure chaos - was super interesting w/some people who did Uranian Astrology and predicting 9-11 a few years back on some of the astrology boards I use to belong to also- by the way, even though I don't practice it anymore and have gradually been weaning myself from it, I still firmly believe it is super accurate and still notice myself summing up a person astrologically w/physical features- busted one of my good friends once lying about her age by a year b/c of astrology- I knew she had a prominent Leo sign in her chart and I was right once I found out the truth about the year she was born). When I took astrology classes way back in the 90s- lol- my astrology teacher was awesome but the lady who owned this esoteric shop where my friend/teacher taught was super wacko and now I see her more as BPD since I " ve learned about it. She so got rid of all the good energy people like my friend and man the people she let in were super freaking scary- like total EDs (energy drainers). I now can also see that her hubby was an NPD too in retrospect. Now that I know about BPD, I also told my friend/teacher about it since I'm most certain her mother whom she is super estranged from also, is a BP too. It's amazing how clear things become when we learn we're not the crazy ones afterall and these mental illnesses actually have names. Guest guest
Wow! A fellow astrologer! I love the stuff and studied it as a hobby since the 60s. Like you, I wanted to figure mother out, because while I " knew " her, I didn't understand her. I figured she was just " born " the way she was. In the process I learned to be tolerant of others, because we aren't all the same, and it was interesting to analyze what made people tick. Mother, father and brother were Pisces, and here I was, an Aquarian. Mother was an extremely sensitive soul who felt pain much deeper than the average person. She never said any of this, I just figured it out. Somehow she hurt inside all the time, over stuff most everyone else could brush off. Eventually, she began drinking to numbed the pain, and thus began her very slow descent down the path towards alcoholism. It never occurred to me she was mentally ill. Mother was the most empathetic person in the world, but she was very short on understanding. My astrological studies taught me tolerance, understanding and patience. I studied Uranian astrology too. I studied just about everything written on the subject, it seems. I finally settled on a off-shoot of Vedic, and I swear by it! I'm getting off-topic, so I better stop........ SmileS! Carol PS We'll have to compare astrological notes off-line!
