When I went to the ER on August 30, 2005, I was given 2 CT scans. One because they wanted to check for kidney stones as my lower back/side was hurting. Also because my head was hurting so badly. Bot CT scans came back normal and so they ended up doing 3 spinal taps (first 2 failed) to rule out meningitis.

When I was in the hospital with Brenden on August 22-27, I was having really bad headaches. I just attributed that to lack of sleep, feeling stress with my son having heart surgery, etc. I felt fine otherwise. I would take Ibuprofen here and there if it got too bad, but I wasn't popping them like candy either. We got home on the 27th and I was okay, but still had some headaches. On August 30th, that's when the fever hit and when my body felt very achey and my head felt like it was going to explode. The pressure was tremendous, so hubby took me to the ER. I did notice a small red bump on my leg at that first ER visit, but we didn't think anything of it. In fact, I could barely think the whole time and hubby didn't ask the dr because it looked like a mosquito bite. They gave me 2 doses of morphine and when that didn't work, they gave me 2 doses of something else much stronger. The 2nd dose finally took the edge away...basically making me fall asleep and I kept desating because I was so drugged up.

In the last few months, I have only had headaches when my EN would flare up...well, it seems that way at least.

Today, my body does hurt, though not like back in August. I just feel extra tired, legs ache and my headache is the most prominent symptom. I don't feel fluish since I think of chest congestion or stomach sickness when I think of the flu. I just took an Ibuprofen because I can't imagine going the rest of the day feeling like this or having it get worse. I've waiting long enough and tried to have it go away with natural things like water and rest. I HATE taking pills. I HATE covering up something that could be a serious thing...which is what I think medication like ibuprofen does. But what I hate more than taking pills is going into the ER or to see a doctor and they have no flippin' clue what is wrong with me. It makes me feel like my only options are to suffer or to take pills that mask something more serious. Maybe I'll just make myself a Super Big Gulp Margarita each and every day. :o\

Dear Lorri,

Not to make light of the headaches, but did you ever get your head

examined? I mean like an MRI? Headaches are not a typical (as if there

is a " typical " ) trigger of EN, so headaches could be unrelated.

Malaise is a feeling of " just plain lousy " like the flu where you feel

like a cloud is over you and you ache and hurt all over, but not

really a headache. Malaise is more general. I had a good friend who

was my supervisor when I worked at the social security office. He

started getting horrible headaches, and one day he just didn't wake

up. Turns out he had a Brain Aneurysm. He had brain surgery and survived.

Sounds like you are on top of things, Lorri.

I'm sure you know that ibuprofen is also a drug trigger for EN.

I guess if you haven't already done so, you can go through the Files

of Triggers and Causes and see if any of them cause headaches as well

as EN. Is there any chance you have a sinus or dental infection going on?

I hope you feel better soon!!!
