Guest guest
Hi Ann: I'm sorry you've had such a rough time of it - hardly seems fair at all. I had pneumonia about five years ago and also have had bronchitis several times, so I understand how lousy you must be feeling. I really feel that chronic pain compromises the immune system in some way and makes it much harder to fight off all the different viruses and bacteria that exist in our world. Sleep is probably the best thing for you at this point and that's probably why your body is insisting that you do a lot of it. Plus, of course, cough meds are very sleep-inducing but they are so great when one is trying hard not to cough due to pain in other places. One thing I've noticed since I've been so debilitated myself is that I get fewer viruses because I'm not able to get out and mingle with people in the world. Just too weak and exhausted right now to do so, but the secondary benefit is that I've gone a long while without getting some nasty virus. I guess that's why some very sick people have to be isolated from others. I hope you get started very shortly on the road to recovery and get back to feeling better. Take care! I have to agree with you about chronic pain compromising the immune system...just the fact that most of us don't get proper rest will mess up your immune system. I also have not been sick in years...I think too because I don't go out much. I also take Echinacea and swear by it but you have to take it when you get the least little sign of illness or it won't work. This thing just hit me like a ton of bricks....woke up one day and couldn't stop coughing and had a fever of 102...then it just went down hill from there. Even my doctor was surprised...he said " you never get sick " ! I'm just glad the worst is over and I feel so much better. Hope you are doing well. Ann PS Interesting...I start reading post again and it seems all the talk is about sex....thought maybe for a minute I was on the wrong list! LOL It started out as a talk about sex and pain and just sort of evolved :-) Lots of good info has been shared. Glad you're back Ann. I get pneumonia ever second year or so, but haven't had to be hospitalized for it for several years. You must have really gotten thwacked. -- Lyndi
