Guest guest
I also took Synthroid (.15) for 35+ yrs. When I was told by my hairdresser that my thinning hair (also worse at the hairline) & breakage -- both worsening since my 40's -- were probably caused by the meds, my drs (both my endo and PCP) both acted like I had been smoking/drinking something; when I asked again (after I heard the same from someone else about these problems) they both insisted that these were just silly, ignorant rumors and insisted that I stay on those meds. They insisted that Synthroid was the " gold standard " as their excuse for keeping me on them after I made them aware that the lactose in them was giving me GI problems -- until I absolutely refused to take them anymore after my GI troubles worsened w/a botched surgery sev yrs ago (and still tried to insist that I take them again just last year - switching my prescription back to them without telling me). I want you to know that some drs seem to be " stuck " on synthroid regardless of what problems it causes their patients. I hope you find a better alternative and INSIST on switching. > > I am on synthroid 125 mcg daily and 25 mcg 2x week due to TT in 05'. I have started noticing more hair loss off and on for the last 6 months or so. It doesn't show on the scalp, other than at the hairline and definitely thinner ponytail. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or opinions as far as slowing the hair loss or if it could be the brand hormone I am on, etc. Thanks. Guest guest
My hair was getting thinner before I started synthroid, bout 13 years ago. It got thicker right away, within 3 months. My stylist, at the time kept talking about how much thinker my hair was and how I had all these little baby hairs. I recently went to a new stylist and she couldn't stop talking about how think my hair was. I guess some of us just have different reactions to some meds. I sure wouldn't keep taking it it if my hair became thinner.
