Guest guest
Hi all it's here Yep once again I'm in pain, I guess I'm feeling a little sorry for myself as Friday night & Saturday morning I was feeling the best I have felt for a long time (5 weeks) the longest I had stood before hand was about 1/2 hour before I had to lay down with my feet up high as the pain was too much, I spent most of Saturday doing a few light jobs around the house & I was having no pain, still restricted movement but no pain was fine by me, I guess I was asking for it really but I couldn't help myself. Midday Saturday I could feel a new lump on my upper thigh & come mid evening Saturday I was on my back again & feeling real poorly again as if I had the flu all over again, Sunday I didn't feel much better at all, over the last two days I have developed a further two lumps on both lower legs, I'm now having a job in telling if there new lumps or just the originals spreading as some of my lumps started off about 1 inch round & have now spread to about 4-5 inches round there not even in there shape & I seems to be having new lumps coming up close to the other's. I have about 15 lumps now & when I stand for too long it just feels like my lower legs are going to pop as there feels like there is so much pressure throughout all of these lumps. I'm still after 5 weeks getting hot & cold flushes, all over sensitivity of my skin, every morning I wake & my whole spine is aching like mad & I'm having a job getting comfortable as any pressure on the lumps hurts. I'm on no medication at all as my doctor said he is happy with my progress & all that is needed is more rest. Does anyone know if it is worth me taking anything to get over this? I've seen reference to Potassium Iodide, is this something I could buy over the counter or does anyone have any other idea's. Kindest regards to you all, . Guest guest
Dear I took the Potassium Iodide several years ago without any improvement but I've read that for some people it does help - and without side effects! It's script only, though. Have you tried Naproxen (Aleve over the counter). it helps me but I have to take at leat 1100 daily! Here in Sydney it's cheaper to get a script for Anaprox that buy it over the counter but you'll have to check where you are. The only drug that really helped - and then it only sped up the episode it didn't reduce the severity - is high doses of Prednisone. BUT that has terrible side effects for me: massive weight gain, huge mood swings, moon face, and depression. For me it's not worth it. Best of luck in finding what works for your body! Guest guest
Hello paul, you did say if you did too much again you would most probably get another flare up I guess you have been overdoing it,I know its hard but you will have to try and limit yourself to what you do and take it easy easier said than done I know, have just been to the doctor who is helping me quite a bit my old doctor retired and the new one is great he is sympathetic and also knows something about en apparently he did it as part of his training and although what he knows is mainly from going through case histories and mostely theory he said he is interested and will help as much as possible I must admit I cried as in 17 years this is the first doctor who has taken me seriously its nice to say I suffer from en and a doctor knows what it is he also put me on antidepressants only mild ones for now just to try and lift my mood, he also sent me for an x ray. I hope you will be out of pain soon the only thing u can do is rest as much as possible thinking of you and hope your well soon > > Hi all it's here > > Yep once again I'm in pain, I guess I'm feeling a little sorry for > myself as Friday night & Saturday morning I was feeling the best I > have felt for a long time (5 weeks) the longest I had stood before > hand was about 1/2 hour before I had to lay down with my feet up > high as the pain was too much, I spent most of Saturday doing a few > light jobs around the house & I was having no pain, still restricted > movement but no pain was fine by me, I guess I was asking for it > really but I couldn't help myself. > > Midday Saturday I could feel a new lump on my upper thigh & come mid > evening Saturday I was on my back again & feeling real poorly again > as if I had the flu all over again, Sunday I didn't feel much better > at all, over the last two days I have developed a further two lumps > on both lower legs, I'm now having a job in telling if there new > lumps or just the originals spreading as some of my lumps started > off about 1 inch round & have now spread to about 4-5 inches round > there not even in there shape & I seems to be having new lumps > coming up close to the other's. > > I have about 15 lumps now & when I stand for too long it just feels > like my lower legs are going to pop as there feels like there is so > much pressure throughout all of these lumps. > > I'm still after 5 weeks getting hot & cold flushes, all over > sensitivity of my skin, every morning I wake & my whole spine is > aching like mad & I'm having a job getting comfortable as any > pressure on the lumps hurts. > > I'm on no medication at all as my doctor said he is happy with my > progress & all that is needed is more rest. > > Does anyone know if it is worth me taking anything to get over this? > I've seen reference to Potassium Iodide, is this something I could > buy over the counter or does anyone have any other idea's. > > Kindest regards to you all, .
