Womens International Pharmacy and Abrams Royal both have dessicated thyroid powder. (They do not grind up Armour pills to get it.)

If you use Abrams Royal, do not use their default filler: bicarbonate of soda. Not sure what other choices they have.

WIP uses only olive oil as a filler.

You can also send a prescription for "thyroid" to Canada for ERFA Thyroid pills, similar to Armour.

I felt horrible for 3 months, but chalked it up to holiday stress. 3 weeks ago, I called the pharmacy, and asked specifically if my prescription had been filled with natural thyroid. The pharmacist told me it was "natural" thyroid not synthetic. I tried to recall the written prescription, but thought it said simply T4/T3. Went back to doc, and she showed me a copy of the prescription in my file where she had specifically requested natural hormone. Went back to pharmacy and spoke to head pharmacist. She then told me that my prescription was NOT natural as prescribed. The pharmacist said that they cannot get the natural ingredients since there is no more Armour to grind up and put into capsules. Is this a horrible pharmacy, or do they get the ingredients for compounded thyroid from Armour. It doesn't make sense to me. Why would I pay them to grind up Armour and put it in a capsule when i am on a standard dose? > > I found a freeze dried porcine thyroid on the web. compounded problem

Hi Everyone,

My doc prescribed me the compounded version of Armour back in November. I felt horrible for 3 months, but chalked it up to holiday stress. 3 weeks ago, I called the pharmacy, and asked specifically if my prescription had been filled with natural thyroid. se? I found a freeze dried porcine thyroid on the web. I have tried it for a week now, and I am starting to feel better. I suffered horribly with headaches for the 3 months on the synthetic, but I am now on day 7 of no headache!

Anyone else experienced this problem?

Pam
