Maybe switch to all calcium citrate? The viactives don't seem to be cutting

thats what i was asking about. i take viactives and im told to

switch to citrate. this is by people on the main list. i dont want

to wait to see if i have a problem- i want to avoid it. i just dont

see how it matters if it is citrate or carbonate. learn something

new everyday

Mel,

I don't use viactives as my main source of calcium. I quit taking

the citrate because they were freaking horse pills and a couple

times I got one stuck in my throat and nearly choked. Figgered a

slow death was better than a quick one, lol.

I barely started taking viactives again a couple weeks ago. You may

recall that I use multiple sources for my calcium. What has changed

the past few months, though, is that I am busy and eating less

calcium containing foods which I think is my main problem right

now. ALso I started drinking tea non-stop which we know interferes

with calcium absorption. Sigh. Now what am I supposed to drink?

Really, I mean it. I am addicted to sipping and hate herbal tea.

So, I just bought a bunch of cottage cheese and tapioca pudding and

rice pudding. Boy, am I ever going to be eating well! lol Plus, I

will start drinking milk, fat free.

Marta,

Calcium gives you dairrhea? Since upping my calcium it tends to plug me up if

I am not careful to get enough water during the day. Huh.

Well, my vit D is normal and I am wearing sunblock due to a middle-

age crisis. Apparently, enough light is getting through. It is

20.5 (8.9-46.7 is the normal range). I wonder if it needs to be any

higher? My copper is normal and my magnesium which was low before

surgery is .1 over normal, so it is okay. I take mostly Kirkland

calcium (carbonate) which has magnesium, zinc, copper and manganese

in it. I take it morning and night and in between take Viactiv and

Tums, etc.

I will increase my dietary calcium since I previously ate more

calcium-containing foods and had better labs at my one year. Maybe

that will help. Meanwhile, I have no symptoms, OF COURSE! Like

Dee, lol, except that I am full of fear of ending up like her, so

will learn from her and be very pro-active in taking care of this

problem before it becomes a problem. Gee, I must be tired, that

sounds weird.

Also, I await Dr.K's input regarding my labs. Some are still

pending, though. Honestly, I have been very good about my

supplements and that is one reason I am so surprised and concerned

about the abnormalities.

Marta,

Just remember, I had no symptoms when mine was low except until I ended up

with spinal compression fractures. Of course these are now contributing to the

bones spurs....Oh, And I was talking to someone the other day and wondered

if higher calcium levels will make the spurs worse? Banish the thought!

Anyway despite the fact that I was what? 33 yo with spinal fractures, Noone

ever did a dexa scan! Just told me it was expensive and insurance wouldn't

cover it because I was so young. Didn't think it was necessary. Then when the

PTH was sky high pre op none thought of the calcium as the culprit. Well, NOW

I know why, but then all they did was scare me and run me through needless

tests.

My blood calcium was low(2 or 3 tenths of a point) but I started caltrate

once a day. My pth was normal so I assume I'm ok otherwise.

Hi Joyceann,, YOUR biopsy sounds just like mine did and I WAS able to successfully treat and get rid of my virus,, so IF I CAN DO IT,, so can you!!! You DO have significant damage to the liver from this virus, but you can still stop it and the liver CAN recover,, you are stage 3-4 with early cirrhosis which is exactly where I was when I treated,, and I too was grade 3 inflammation which means its IS moving along munchin on your liver,, so its really important to treat now,, before you reach full cirrhosis.... Your alt and ast are high but not as bad as many ppl,, those numbers should come come with treatment too,, As I said,, you really do need

to think about treating soon with this biopsy report,, its the only way to stop it,, We will be here for ya and will help you all the way through your treatment if you want us to,, it will be ok,, hugs, jax joyceann wrote: got theses today in the mail ast 232 alt340 hcv 2b tsh 6.77(i am

Treatment is just 26 weeks. I do #15 this Friday so I’m moving closer to

how nauseous they’ve been, etc. etc. I just listened silently. I wanted
