When a patient is ordered for a lab test CA19-9 or CEA usually mass

health will not cover these tests unless the pt has a diagnosis of

colon cancer,pancreatic cancer or any GI cancer but it is not covered

for HCC. If we tell the lab to run it anyway then the hospital picks

up the cost from what I understand. What should we be doing in this

situation if the MD ordered it? Cancel the tests or tell them to run it

anyway?
