Now, I always enjoy reading others' responses to medical issues.

Sometimes I dismiss things as " normal " after surgery. For example,

pale stools are an indication of lack of bile acids in the stool.

For a non-ds patient, it would be an indicator of liver disease, but

for us, normal. That is how I think of it. I like seeing Ann's

response because maybe I am wrong, maybe there are stools that

are " too " pale.

I am wondering about partial obstruction, though, with the digestion

kicking up with lying down. Hmmm...

Ann, she should still call Dr.K since my words here are never

medical advice from a doctor (me). I cannot remove my education

when I am explaining things to myself or others, however. My stools

were pale and I knew why. I never had chalky white ones, but my

dogs do when they eat bones, lol! I doubt Jeanne is eating bones,

LOL, I just caught this post and had to giggle.....the eating bones

part made me laugh! But on the serious side, I know that I have had

several times that my stool were chalky white, and it was always

right after (usually the next day or two) taking Mylanta, or Tums, or

other products for tummy issues. Also, my stools tend to be pale as

well.....but last week I drank a glass of Cherry Kool Aid for the

first time since surgery (my daughter made me drink it!) and I have

never seen such a bright red color BM! I have laugh at all the

colors....like skittles, I have a veritable rainbow of colors, and

all depending on what I eat,or what medications I take. But I would

never hesitate for a moment to call Dr Z or Dr K if I was one iota

concerned about it being abnormal!! Thats what we paid that program

fee for and never once has anyone at the office made me feel silly

for calling with a question, however small (or complicated) it may

be!
