Lorri,

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I believe all will work out for the good! Listen to your doctors, even if it sounds silly. I didn't know Strep could have no symptoms either. My daughter possibly just had EN, she is 10. Doctor thought maybe Strep since she had is three months prior, but he's not sure. Interesting.

Don't lose hope, the Lord will give you hope. Just cast your cares on him and He will be faithful.

God Bless,

Tina

Hello Lorri I had rhumatic fever when I was 22 it is not heard of much these days but looking back in my family tree my great great aunt had rhumatic fever and I was told that it could be a hereditory factor as my doctor said reasearch has shown that patients he had had with rf had a relative who had had it too, unfortunately I had it bad and was hospitalized for a month and a half my whole body was swollen they had to put a frame over my bed to hold the sheets as I could not stand anything touching me, funny enough there is also tb in my family and that is what they thought it was but four weeks later after growing my germs in a petry dish in the lab they found out I had rf they did warn me that I would either have valve damage or the other possibility would be severe athritis, my heart is fine but I do suffer with a lot of joint pain they have found osteo athritis and have also said they think I might have rhumatoid athritis,

dont worry too much take every day as it comes I had en after about 7 months after having rf and I have flare ups quite often throughout the year which is hell with the other pain I suffer anyway but I try to be positive and I have learnt not to worry about what I might have or what I might not have I just try to get on with life however bad I feel, I look at it this way these things must happen for a reason, I hope it will be good news about the valves but I had it bad and my valves are fine mind you that is the only thing on my body that seems to be alright and working properly lol, sorry to go on so long but keep your chin up and try to stay positive. thinking of you deanfm6@... wrote: After a very thorough evaluation and saying

"You're an interesting case" at least 3 times, he is quite sure I have Rheumatic Fever. He is pretty positive that my antibody test will come back positive. He said it is very rare for adults to get Rheumatic Fever and then started talking about valve damage. I was shocked because I didn't know much about RF. How come my family seems to go into doctors for some odd reason and we come out with possible heart damage....it's crazy. I came home and read some medical books I have, but they only explained 1970 medical data and I knew there had to be more. My internet was down, so I had to wait until just now to read some links. I sent an email from my dh's phone because I wanted her to know...I couldn't wait any longer. I have to take my temperature for the next few days and then call the office on Monday to get my lab results as well as give him my temp

results. I'm not sure why he wants me to take it in the morning and around 3 pm, but okay. My rash is fading and so I'm very glad I got into see him today. I took my pictures of how this rash has progressed, which helped him I'm sure. What I read online about RF just fits my situation. It's so wierd. I never even looked up things about Strep because my culture came back negative. I was confident I didn't have that. I thought all strep caused very sore throats and now I read it's not necessarily so. I also read that the orig. Strep infection may not have had ANY symptoms. Now, if I do have RF, I wonder what my prognosis is with untreated RF. It sounds very scary to me.....all this stuff about heart damage...EEK! I guess it's really time for me to give this all to God.....and trust that my

favorite verse holds true for me, too. 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord. Thoughts of Good and not of Evil. To give you a future and a hope. God Bless, Lorri

Dear Lorri,

I didn't realize you didn't have internet access last night when I

sent you the link about RF.

The possible reason the dr. is asking to have your temps at 3AM is

that that is when it should be lowest. Now since you are a female who

ovulates depending on where you are in the cycle, the temps will be a

bit higher or lower.

http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/basal-body-temperature-charting.html

If you have a temperature above normal during the lowest time of day,

it could indicate a fever. But lack of sleep also can raise

temperature as does ovulation, [and an electric blanket]. If the temp

is clearly high, say around 98.8 at 3 AM, that would possibly be an

elevated temp. If you're on antibiotics, temp readings may be to see

if they are working at the dose prescribed. This is just a guess.

I'm sorry if you thought all strep infection had to be accompanied by

a sore throat. I know that isn't the case, and members have mentioned

it from time to time. Dr's should know it too.

Hang in there! You are on your way to getting proper treatment, and I

have a feeling you'll be much better soon.

Love,
