Guest guest
HiI just had my first appointment with dr gutsmann today. I really liked her! I felt like she was really concerned and stayed talking to me for about an hour. She put me on 5000 iui of vitamin d and also prescribed 60 mg of compunded porcine ( natural thyroid) for me. She is going to test on day 21 in my cycle for my hormones. So far I like her. Well see how I do on the natural thyroid!Sent from my iPhone I met with Dr. Gutsmann today - gosh.. it had to have been 30+ minutes talking about my results. I was taking 4 grains of Armour and tested: TSH <0.006 (0.450-4.5) Free T4 2.05 (.82-1.77) Free T4 8.7 (2.0-4.4) Obviously high.. she reduced me to 3 grains about 3 weeks ago.. a compounded naturethroid.. and I feel GREAT. Hormones - Saliva Testing on Day 21: Estradiol 0.8 (1.3-3.3) Progesterone 510 (200-3000) Ratio Pg/E2 638 (100-500) Testosterone 15 (16-55) DHEA 3.1 (2-23) Cortisol AM 4.8 (3.7-9.5) All of these tests were only taking a progesterone supplement. She is going to continue the progesterone cream at current strength. She gave me a Testosterone cream - she actually gave that to me weeks ago based on old labs from Dr. Owens - but I couldn't start it until after I took the saliva test. I started it about 3 weeks ago and it's wonderful! DHEA - I am to continue the DHEA sublingual she gave me 3 weeks ago (still didn't use it before test) she said she would like to see my estradiol/progesterone ratio a little better - but she is hesitant to give me an estradiol supplement. Since I am 7 months off of birth control - after 15 years of use - she said my body isn't making all of this stuff on it's own yet.. She feels that if I wait a bit longer, it will kick back in. With the DHEA, progesterone cream and testosterone I already feel much better - so I'm happy with the let's wait approach. She told me to go ahead and start trying to get pregnant again. She also told me that if my OB won't treat me with the compounded meds - that she will treat me during pregnancy. I'm very very pleased with her.. I told her that my old docs office had closed and she wondered how she could get more patients. She really enjoys treating hormones.

Guest guest
2 things I didn't like though..First it took me 4 hours till I saw the doctor since they wouldn't schedule an appointment for me. When they did take me back the nurse practitioner came in and asked me what I am here for. When I told her she acted shocked and said we donor treat thyroid patients here and can't help you when you already have been to a few doctors. We can't help you just because you don't like the way the treated your symptoms. I was just about to cry, then she said she would ask the doctor. It is only when I saw the doctors that the doors were opened for me. So please call and tell them you want to schedule a one hour appointment for hormones with the doctor and triple assure it becuase they assured me but it didn't happen. Secondly, I didn't like the way they pushed thier supplements on me as I didn't even have a chance to say no. She also sold it to me at double the price I found online! Regardless, I still liked her and so far recommend her.Sent from my iPhone HiI just had my first appointment with dr gutsmann today. I really liked her! Guest guest
I'm sorry that you had a different experience than I did.. What time of the day did you go? She only sees hormone patients between 9 and 4.. I think. I'm sorry they didn't schedule an appointment for you.. She also didn't push her supplements on me.. I told her that I was taking DHEA and I have Melatonin, she told me that if I wanted to try something different, she had a brand she liked. I asked to try the DHEA and told her I would stick with my melatonin...

Guest guest
Fatima, I'm also sorry to hear part of your experience was negative. I have had mixed experiences with her staff. When I called to ask about my results her assistant told me, "Oh, your TSH is low, she will need to adjust your dose." (Not that she is the one who is supposed to be giving me medical advice!) Then when I asked what my Free Ts were she just told me normal. I asked what the numbers were and she told me. Then I asked for her to fax me a copy. She said I had to fill out at medical release form to get them faxed to me. Then she didn't fax them. When I called to ask she said I had to see the doctor first before she could give me my results. I pushed her and said I had never had so much trouble getting a copy of my results, at which point she said she'd ask the doctor. The fax showed up within a few minutes. She didn't push any supplements on me, but I did mention trouble with sleep and she asked if I had tried Melatonin. I said I had, but was out. She said she had one she liked for $10. I bought one. I searched for it online after your post about the cost. She was actually selling it less than the going price online, which was $11.90.Like you said, it is worth sticking in there. Dr. G is good and very caring toward her patients. I was there last Friday in the snow for an appointment. She was running a bit late because she was the only doctor there and the waiting room was full, but she still took time with me and I didn't feel too rushed. But the staff was less than friendly in some instances. I guess some of it is the combo of the walk-in clinic and regular appointments. Maybe she will get a good enough hormone client base that she will do appointments exclusively and let the other doctors/NPs handle the walk-ins. Guest guest
The cellulose makes it more like a timed release med. The T3 does not hit your system all at once. > > Avicil is a synthetic cellulose product. It does slow down absorption, but that is a desirable effect for many folks. Guest guest
my tsh has been very low ever since I started supplementation. does it m attter at all if it is below the range once supplementation is started? or are they now believing that the tsh still needs to be in range (unless you are a cancer survivor)? Ellis Ecke, LPC, LCDC Life Transformation Coaching and Counseling www.stephanieecke.com "Let the Transformation Begin!" Re: 2nd appt with Dr. Gutsmann - Hormone & Thyroid Results You need to remind her that you are a thyroid cancer patient and that your TSH needs to be kept suppressed to below 0.10 TO KEEP THE CANCER FROM COMING BACK. If she does not know that, then she is just showing her ignorance. Doctors who have had thyroid cancer themselves usually keep their TSH completely suppressed. We have not seen my TSH for the last four or five dose changes. The last doctor to question my TSH was that snotnose hospitalist at Presbyterian Dallas who wanted me to stop taking my Armour. (Word of caution to all! If you go to the ER, make sure that you take your thyroid meds with you and insist that the hospital not switch you. You have that right. They need your permission to change your thyroid meds.) Once you get on your correct dose and have all of your S*E*X* and adrenal hormones balanced, it may take awhile to feel better, or you might feel better right away. Not very many folks feel well on just 60mg. Until you feel 100%, I would keep pushing for increases. You may feel quite well for the first 3-6 weeks, because you still have the T4 from the $ynthroid in your system and are adding some of the T3 that you need. When it is gone, you may feel undermedicated, because we all need a certain amount of T4 as well as T3. But you may feel that droop before then. When you do, I would ask for an increase at that time. Weight is usually the last symptom to resolve. Hypothyroidism causes tissue damage, which takes time to heal. > > > > So that's better then so I would get enough energy throughout the day. Also I was wondering , how do you convert from a synthroid dosage to the natural thyroid dosage. I was on 125 synthroid and she put me on 60 naurL thyroid. Does that sound right? She did. Also say that she lowered it a little because my tsh was too high. > > > > Sent from my iPhone > > 09650

I have this rash that came out on my face and it really itches. I do have dry skin and don't know if it's from that or an allergic reaction. Guest guest
Do you know the fillers in your compound? Or are you allergic to pork? Where have you been getting your food? Tom Thumb has been selling some beef that has been treated with preservatives (metacresol). Most people can tolerate them, but they give me a terrible itchy rash among other symptoms. Other sources of metacresol would include farm raised shrimp and possibly other farm-raised seafood. Insulin. Pinesol. Maybe Lysol. What are your cortisol levels? New allergies that start with the addition of T3 would suggest the possibility of adrenal insufficiency. >> Thanks for that info!> How doni know if I'm allergic to my new thyroid meds or not? I have this rash that came out on my face and it really itches. I do have dry skin and don't know if it's from that or an allergic reaction.
