Hi all! I am scheduled for a hysterectomy in early November, and I am wondering if you ladies who have gone through it can give me any information.I started having problems back around the time that my thyroid symptoms started. Of course, I didn't realize what was wrong at the time. When I figured it out, and the doctors blew me off, I ended up going through an ablation and tubal. Around that same time, I started having incidents of RLQ pain. No one could ever figure out why. Lots of tests and scans, but everything has been "normal". Even the ob/gyn said it wasn't anything he could figure out as it wasn't happening cyclically. Last month, that changed.I had my yearly exam earlier this year, and the doctor and I discussed the ongoing pain. He gave me some websites to check out, and I began researching. Found a term I had never heard before - Adenomyosis. The symptoms really fit, and last month, when everything fell into place, I called the doctor and had a pelvic sonogram done. I had several things show up, one of which is possible adenomyosis. I also have fibroids, which my mom had around my same age, and which were part of the problems that led to her hysterectomy.Due to my age, the tubal I had way back when, and the fact that I am in my early 40's, the doctor and I have decided to due a total hysterectomy. It's like a fire sale - Everything must go! So, I am facing menopause in less than a month. And I had a friend tell me that this surgery can mess with your thyroid. Anything that anyone can tell me will be greatly appreciated, as I don't have the first clue about any of this! Thanks, applegirl
