That is how I feel right now. BLAH. Somewhere during the day Monday someone snuck up on me and turned on some serious post nasal drip. My throat is raw and worst of all it wants to settle in my chest I think. My peak flows are stuck in the yellows...but they are at least hovering around the same numbers. sorry for whining but I feel miserable and have no appetite or energy. I hate chest colds.

Thanks Cheryl. I have finally acknowledged that my ventolin is not going to be enough to help me kick this so I called for a doctor appointment this morning. My peak flows are running low for me and it seems that all the ventolin is doing is keeping them from falling any lower. Last night I could hardly sleep so I stayed home from work this morning..im running what is technically a low grade fever for me (98.7) athough its not considered a fever. I normally run 96 something. Anyway I have an appointment at 6pm tonight..which is fine by me.

It didnt help that last night we had a severe thunderstorm and the weather radio was going off at least once/twice an hour almost the entire night. Thats what happens I guess when you live on the border of 2 states! When we did get the storm finally, we could see lightning and hear thunder at least 45 minutes before it actually got here.

Ok..Im home from the doc appt. Turns out I am just really tight...no bronchitis YET, but he did give me some antibiotics to take prophylactically so I dont get it. I really liked this guy. He is a PA, but he put a lot of weight into what I told him and he came out and said he does not put much faith in Ox sats unless they are already tanking. He took a listen and got a good dose of my barking cough with me just breathing regularly. Said I was wheezing somewhat and brought a nebulizer out. He said after the neb treatment he would make a decision about a shot of salumedrol or not. I wasnt wheezing anymore afterwards, but I still had some funky lung sounds so he gave me the shot. No oral meds though outside of Mucinex and doxycycline. I feel much better already...and can wander around and have a conversation without getting into a coughing fit.

He also said I am his 3rd asthmatic to come in today and end up needing a shot...that he doesnt usually have to give 3 in one day...the fact that we had a bad storm last night and another one while we were in the clinic tonight might have something to do with it.

CIndy its already hot & humid here...it was 98 yesterday @ 6pm. That was the

first time I had been outside since um...Wednesday @ noon..what a shock. In the

hour while I was in the clinic we had a storm move through and it dropped the

temperature to 72.

Today its supposed to be 100. I am going to give work a shot today although Im

interested in the fact that my peak flows which were almost normal after the neb

& shot last night are back down to about 400 again. It might take a few days

for them to stay where they are supposed to be though I guess.

This is really the first time the asthma kicked in first before the actual

infection did. When I blow my nose there is no color...and I have yet to cough

anything up...Im really glad I listened to my body this time because I was

tighter than I even thought I was.

Terry its kind of wierd because we live right on the Ga/SC state line and SC &

NC have been getting whacked for at least 2 days now but we didnt get anything

until the other night. THe storm systems the night before Wednesday that moved

through were about 2 hours away from us (closer to where Madeline lives) but

close enough to trip our weather radio.

Ann it is the same at my house. Unbelievable temps. We are usually in the high 70 very low 80s in June. In August we usually have a couple of days of low to mid 90's and that's all. It has hit 100 twice this week. My mom is in hog heaven, but everyone else I know is dying. LOL. It is in the low 90's here in Denver, but at least very little humidity. It was in the 80s today but felt like 90s with the humidity. Then I had to be at a place today where they clean with the dreaded pine sol. My asthma has been acting up off and on all day since that. I may have to go to the ER tomorrow as my dr is out of town and my peak flows were in my yellow zone all day even with neb treatments. Hi all,I'm not in the ER yet. My dr gave me a prescription for pred last month when I had some minor problems. He said fill it if my peak flows dropped into the low 300s for more than a couple of days. My personal best is between 450 to 500. I've been blowing 300 to 350 (or 70% to 80%) the past two days and barely got 320 a few minutes ago. I have gotten up to 400 but that's right after a neb treatment and when I'm not as tight as I am now. I'm wheezing a little bit but I'm mostly tight. I'm going to fill the pred script and go from there because my nebulizer isn't helping much. I think my dr anticipated the problems with the humidity here, but I didn't know the pine sol would set me off as badly as it did yesterday. In answer to another post about heat and humidity, the heat does

not bother me as much as the combination of heat and humidity. Also, when it's hot for several days and ozone builds up, it can be a problem for some asthmatics, so heed ozone warnings and stay inside as much as possible. To: asthma Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 11:37:40 AMSubject: Re: Re: blah

I was starting to finally feel better...and then along came Code Orange Air Quality. It was 102 degrees and bad air quality to boot. I think I am pretty sure I also have an ear infection now. Clear fluid from my ear along with hearing the ocean without putting a shell to my ear tells me Im right. So...Ann is miserable again today. IF I can only make it till Tuesday...I have a dr appointment that I so wisely scheduled at the beginning fo the month before I knew Id need more than just a renewed script.

Oh..and the most wonderful thing of all about this?? IM STILL taking antibiotics AND 2400mg/day of mucinex...Grrrrrrrrrr.

It rained here last night...which was kinda funny b/c our neighbor was getting ready to illegally burn a whole boatload of stuff...even had it soaked in gasoline. It rained so hard it flooded our patio in 2 minutes...so much for burning...lol. It only lasted about 20-25 minutes.

I so hope it rains all day tomorrow....although its not forecast to. Its 96 @ 845pm.

It hit 86 here today, but had another freaky rainstorm this afternoon. They reported on the news tonight that Denver has gotten more rain just in June than the whole yearly average! I guess it started raining before we came so the humidity levels would build and I would feel at home. Wonder if it is going to stop before I go home? ROFL! IM STILL taking antibiotics AND 2400mg/day of mucinex...Grrrrrrrr rr.It rained here last night...which was kinda funny b/c our neighbor was getting ready to illegally burn a whole boatload of stuff...even had it soaked in gasoline. It rained so hard it flooded our patio in 2 minutes...so much for

burning...lol. It only lasted about 20-25 minutes.I so hope it rains all day tomorrow.... although its not forecast to. Its 96 @ 845pm.Ann
