Guest guest
Again, my experience was a nightmare. It took me over a year to get all their approvals in place. Guest guest
Hi Steve, I thought that they only needed proof of 'lack of insurance',, never knew you had to meet some income guidelines,, do you know what the max amount one could make and still qualify? These treatment drugs are very very expensive and no one should be forced to pay for them out of their own monies,, most ppl would have to decide either to treat or eat,, I never heard that you had to prove your income tho,, just prove that you had no insurance,, hmmm thanks for the info tho jackie stevebridgers wrote: If anyone would like to apply for the Roach Patient Assistance Program, this is the number to call. 1-. Guest guest
the woman told me under $30,000 she said its not a fed or gov program so nearly everyone is approved, it was a 1 pg application top part dr filled out and the bottom part was basic info name address etc,,,,,if yiu filed taxes last year you need to attach that if not then they send a form which they did send me some number form and all i had to do was sign it to say i didnt file taxes last year, no taxable income and faxed that all in with the prescription and then mailed in the hard copy of the presciption and she said should tk 1 week to hear the meds are sent fed express o and also theres no limit on the number of times you can refill in a year, it sounds very gd, i just hope it all was true what the woman at roche told me im sure it was so just wating i figure ill call there on wensday after the new yearJackie on wrote: Hi Steve, I thought that they only needed proof of 'lack of insurance',, never knew you had to meet some income guidelines,, do you know what the max amount one could make and still qualify? Guest guest
HOW do you know that the Riba didnt work for you? It usually does bring down your RBC's and thats why you need procrit to correct that... you didnt stop treatment did you? wrote: The ribovirin didn't work for me , it kept bringing down my red blood count. Guest guest
Yes - I was put on Procrit for the second time last week due to low hemoglobin. The first round was for a month or so till it came back up. Then it dropped again and I'm back on. I was pulled off Riba the first time for 2 weeks and I stopped myself this time.....maybe not a smart idea, but I needed it right now. But I don't know why it would be considered that the Riba didn't work for you, . Guest guest
you are right,, its very unsafe to stop and start with these meds,, you MUST take at least 80% of your medication dose for at least 80% of the time to have any chance of reaching SVR,, PLEASE talk with your doc before stopping ANY of the meds on your own.. it can totally undo the good things you are doing to kill this virus.... and when you stop and start, it WILL mutate and then you will probably never get rid of it! dorv@... wrote: Yes - I was put on Procrit for the second time last week due to low hemoglobin. Guest guest
Well I dont want you to feel 'guilty' but you really should NOT be off the Riba unless your doc ordered it,, you are cheating yourself from SVR,,, I know the shortness of breath, I had it the ENTIRE time on treatment,, my hemoglobin was sitting at 7.0!!! but I did not stop the RIBA as THAT is the thing that is killing the virus,, without that, you stand no chance to reach SVR...Dorothy wrote: I’m already feeling guilty about it, but am also having considerable shortness of breath. Guest guest
You are right; I can't argue with that. I can't imagine being down that low. My doc told me that under 9, he'd pull me off not just the riba, but the interferon as well. The breathing really freaks me out living alone. The other day, I typed up a letter to my vet with my credit card information authorizing him to board Pearl (my sweet kitty) in case anything happens to me & left it right near my front door......I'm more worried about how she'll be cared for than me!! And on top of the medications for the RA, I'm on more stuff for my neuropathy and sometimes, it just gets so overwhelming. I'm 55 and can hardly handle it. I can't imagine how seniors are expected to manage ill health. And back to the guilt......you must be a Jewish mother...or an Italian mother...or an Irish mother...or somebody's mother!!! God Bless everyone & there's. SHARON CROSBY wrote: My doc could not get me the Procrit, but referred me to a hematologist and I got blood transfusions for the remaining months of treatment. Guest guest
Jackie, I had to submitt a tax return for 2005 and proof of medicare. I had a statement from my doctor and a prescription for the drugs. It took about two weeks for them to get back to me on my approval. Sometimes the amount of income plays a part of the base payment one can afford to pay for the drugs. But nearly all the cases I've heard of the drugs have been free. I don't know what the max is on the income or insurance base, but without their help, I would have been one who had to choose the treat or eat. Steve... Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
