Guest guest
Last week I posted an article about a vocal student I have been working with for the past four months who is diagnosed with disabilities. He came to me in September with a dream to put on an Elvis Tribute Show to raise money for Alzheimer's. He had been told in high school that he couldn't sing worth a darn. So instead of going from no performing experience to singing a song here and there at other people's events, Tony grabbed the tiger by the tail and went from no performing experience to a full one hour concert. With a small band of volunteers (his brother-in-law played the Colonel, his cousin was security and his sister was the official photographer to name just a few of the volunteers that were working to make this event a success), Tony found himself giving a concert to a standing room only crowd where he raised $400 clear for the non-profit organization. Now that may not seem like much to many people but considering the tickets were $5 in advance and $7 at the door, clearing $400 is quite an accomplishment. But even more of an accomplishment is that he set out to do something important four months ago and tonight, right on schedule, he stepped out of his comfort zone, made a leap of faith, and touched his dream. It was a totally amazing evening all the way around and I wish I could impress upon everyone how one person dared to make a difference and succeeded.
