Guest guest
There are hospitals in every county of every state that will treat anyone that walks in, regardless of income or insurance, too. They're called " County Hosptials " (imagine that!) I'd hope that people would receive the same care at these hosptials as they would anywhere else. Unfortunately, that may not be the case, but they are out there! > Money or no money everyone gets into hospital and treated well. It's > going down hill a bit lately, we had a marvellous health care system, > but government just love to fix what's not broken. Same thing in Canada. It was working very well, then the politicians etc. got to tinkering with it. If they do much more tinkering it will be ruined. That'd be a shame. " If it ain't broke - don't fix it. Unfortunately, that may not be the case, but they are out there! If there was a hospital in every county of every state then Indiana would have 92 hospitals! We have counties that don't even have a walk in clinic, never mind a hospital. -- Lyndi
Guest guest
Moderator Note - Paragraph spacing was added for our members with vision impairments. ------ I don't know about other states, but in California, ANY hospital with the exceptions of hospitals like Kierser (HMO's) have to take u regardless of insurance. Years ago before we got this bill passed, i had to go to county hospitals which took 8-12 hours. In Los Angels, the County hospitals take for ever to get seen. But, now with, i think it is called " chapter 99 " Don't quote me, anyone can go into any non-private hospital. So now i go to Ceder-Sanai Hospital, which is not a county hospital, it isn't private either. The wait is about 3-4 hours, but if u go before 8 AM u get seen almost right away. The only thing is u still get bills in the mail, however, you apply for Chapter 99 (for each ER visit), and the state pays the bill. In my case, my settlement will take care of it. Coutny hospitals are no fun here in LA, omg, they are awful but u do get excellent medical care. Top Physicians work there, teaching ETC. But the environment is lacking, and you have to put up with the occasionaly Crazy person (for lack of a better word) or Addict trying to get a fix, They go to the non-county hospitals too, but security and stuff is better, its cleaner and stuff. And they usually faze these people out and they are put somewhere else. At the hospital i go to now for flair ups, has a Trauma center, a Regular Er and a 'fast track' Er, i usually get in fast track because i have chornic condition. but, fast track by all means u don't get in and out faster lol, it just means u go to a different part of the ER, where they don't need physcians standing over a patient every minute or nurses. You get a shot of demiral (SP?) and u lay there, they come and say " is it working " usually i say " no " and i get one more, they usually give me a script for something for pain and i am gone. I am not sick or in need of immediate attention, i only need my blood pressure taken ever 30 minutes to make sure the meds aren't affecting me bad. The second to the last time i went i got the greatest doc, i told him what was wrong with me and told him i come here for flair ups, and he said " Tell me what u need me to do " I said " well, they usually give me a shot of demirol and monitor me, that's about it. He did a quick exame, touched my belly and checked my reflexes and lungs and said " someone will be right in " and withing minutes a nurse had my shot. He was great, and he actually stood there and talked to me and listened to me. Most ER docs spend on Average 11-30 seconds with a patient for each time they go to check on the patient (read that in an article), it also said, a DR usually interupts a patient within 11 seconds LOL. How they figured that out, i don't know...someone stood there timimg this for statistics lol. OR maybe patient surveys, not sure. But anyway..... I don't know if this is available only in California or across the country. Lyndi wrote: > If there was a hospital in every county of every > state then Indiana would have 92 hospitals! Guest guest
Same here in North Iowa. Most of the hospitals and doctors' clinics are owned by Sisters of Mercy. If you want an independent second opinion, you have to go to Mayo or Iowa City. Maxine Lyndi wrote: If there was a hospital in every county of every state then Indiana would have 92 hospitals! Guest guest
Oops!! Ok, ok... not EVERY county. SORRY! I didn't even think when I wrote that. I knew what I meant in my head, but of course my fingers never seem to say what my brain is thinking. I knew what I meant. I meant that there are county hosptials. They will try to fix you for free. The end. lol in IA
