If I remember correctly, it depends on what the CT scan is for. If it's for something to do with the intestines, then the scan may not work since the contrast stuff will never get into the bilio-pancreatic limb, only the alimentary and common. If it's for something else, the absorbtion (malabsorption) rate may make a difference. I know when I had a CT scan for possicle kidney stones, they had to inject something directly into the blood through the IV to get it to work properly. Please let us know what yo find out. Guest guest
Jerry, I think my doctor is more concerned with the viewing of my colon but the view will include the small intestines. I have been having pain that I assumed was associated with my hernia repair (done 11-2002) but my surgeon says the repair site seems fine and is wanting to " look " and see what may be causing the pain. He says he doesn't want to blame everything on the DS and then later find out I had something going on that is not DS related. I will call Delano and see what instructions they have for me. thanks, cindy lee > > >Anyone know if we must do anything different with a CT scan vs. > >someone who doesn't have rearranged innards? The kidneys concentrate the contrast and it flows out through the urinary system. That doesn't have anything to do with the DS. As far as swallowing the oral contrast, we do not absorb it. It travels through the intestines and exits through the poop shute. The speed of transition may be shorter, as lee inferred. marta
Guest guest
Jo, I went to see the surgeon today who did my hernia repair and he wants to do more tests. I told him I don't want to be like a hypochondriac - maybe I should just accept it - let the discomfort/pain be my new normal. He said NO - not until we we have checked everything out to make sure there isn't anything wrong. So looks like I get the joy of some more tests that I really don't want but I suppose I will endure just to be sure. hugs, cindy lee > I am thinking that this > > pain/discomfort might just have to be my new *normal*. > > > > hugs, cindy lee > =============================== > > That would suck....so don't be willing to accept it too easily. > > Hugs > Jo
Guest guest
Hey girl, What do you tell me? better safe than sorry! Pain is not normal. Let me know what they find. Yup, you'll just have to endure, endure, endure! Ellen W
