United Healthcare also denied our request for speech therapy for our son about four years ago. In speaking to a couple of my co-workers, they stated that the key is how the doctor's code the diagnosis determines whether or not United Healthcare actually pays for the therapy. My son attends private school outside of his county of residence in Georgia and the only students that could be seen by their Speech Therapist had to be residents of the county where the school was located. Apparently, that's Georgia law. Fortunately, we were able to enroll him in a Speech Therapy program at a public school, in our county of residence, for 45 minutes one day a week. This worked out very well for us because this only caused us to be late for school for about 30 minutes one day a week. His school worked with us very

well during this process. After two (2) years, he was able to be dismissed even though we were advocating for three (3) full years of Speech Therapy because I had three years of speech therapy at a public school when I was growing up and it really made a difference in my life.

I don't know why United Healthcare puts us parents through so many changes. I've had United Healthcare for years so I'm not familiar with what the other plans offer.
