From what I have seen that 20% is pt's

responsibility.

This pt is telling me she has been paying $319.00 per mt. for her valcyte. She actually has Medicare A, B and Rx drug coverage through BCBS. So should BCBS pay for it and Medicare part B should have picked up the $319

For

the immunos, Medicare B would pay 80% and the pharmacy should balance will the

20% to the MediGap policy.

For the Valcyte, the $320 will be her

responsibility. Would she be financially eligible for assistance from

Roche for the $320 (eligibility based on patient’s income & assets)?

It is my understanding

that Valcyte is not considered an immunosuppressant and, therefore, not covered

by Medicare B. It should be covered by her Medicare D – with a

copay - unless she is in the donut hole (then she pays 100%).

Valcyte is not a immunosuppressant and should fall under the D plan if it is covered on the level they selected.>>> "Lovely, Janet M." 4/27/2007 9:09 am >>>It is my understanding that Valcyte is not considered an immunosuppressant and, therefore, not covered by Medicare B.
