Guest guest
Are metal crowns a source of metal contamination? Do they need to be removed prior to chelation? It's highly possible that I have merc tox based upon a hair analysis test. I've read enough in the egroup to know that I need to have my amalgum fillings replaced (of which I have three huge fillings) before I do anything else. The question that I have is related to my caps. I have five caps in my mouth. Two silver and three gold. Will these be a problem (continued source of metal contamination) or are they O.K. to leave in?
Guest guest
[ ] Dental Crowns I have just had my 8th root canal(old deep fillings from childhood). This time when they filled the tooth before crowning, I asked for composite filling instead of amalgam. Is there anything I can ask for in making the crown without mercury? I really do have to have a crown on it. Carol =======================================================

Mine is gold--- he gave me a choice of gold and ?porcelain? or something. I chose gold as it is a back molar and he said this would last better with the pressure. He also said that gold is always mixed with other material so it matters how the gold mixture is made. Mine is " high noble " (I think that is what it was called) and, he thought this was " good " as gold mixtures go. I also got the material muscle tested before the crown was made. I think you may also need to ask about the " post " or materials in addition to the crown. I didn't ask a lot of questions, since I trusted the dentist to keep any mercury out of the picture. Guest guest
Carol, The crown itself shouldn't contain mercury. Generally their stainless steel for kids, gold or ceramic for adults, as far as I know.
