Hi everyone. I'm going to start this message with asking for your

indulgence of me while I weed through this final aspect of my

neanderthal ability to understand this very important aspect of

healing. I've spent the last six months reading over the posts on

this list. Andy's previous advice to me to turn over every stone to

seek a physician's help with chelation is well-received and will be

undertaken. I've already had my pediatrician threaten to force me to

vaccinate my son with his last Hep B, so I am extremely cautious.

I've not seen him since.

I see so many with positive results with ALA alone, and yet I have

this nagging question to which I can't seen to find an answer,

despite my searching on this list.

The most powerful statement I've seen Andy make is that mercury " can

be slammed into the brain " once it is stirred up. From all I've read

herein, ALA stirs up the mercury, and DMSA binds itself to the

mercury and it is flushed out of the body. While my daughter's hair

analysis did not show mercury, and only slightly elevated levels of

metals, I cannot rule out the existence of mercury.

Does DMSA in fact keep the mercury from going into the brain? If so,

does Andy's statement below apply only to those who do not suspect

mercury? Does it even matter?

Kirkman Labs' description of one of their chelation support products

indicates that it helps the body produce DMSA. If this support

product is used prior to ALA, can the body produce it's own DMSA to

where you don't need supplementation during chelation.

Thanks for your time and your responses. Informed is armed.

Brainchild has a liquid ALA. I know 'cause I'm in the

process of updating their website to add it and other products to the

site. Give them a call at 831 465-0104. I'm not affiliated -

only a happy customer who does their website work as barter.

I have a question about using ALA alone. If you us it alone, what does the

mercury bind to? I was under the impression that the DMSA binds to the

mercury while the ALA pulls it out of the brain. Please let me know it this

is not the case. Thanks

Your experience is your experience. Different people

have different exposures, susceptabilities, needs, etc. so the same

treatment won't get same results for all. But the symptoms you mention

likely might be due to the effect of the treatment on mineral/nutrient

body stores or efas and mean there is a need of more of whatever is a

factor in causing the problem; such as lithium or zinc or magnesium or

omega3, etc. tests such as hair test results might give a clue.

, my son won't take capsules either, but I take

them apart and mix the powder with apple juice or

water, and " shoot " it into his mouth with a bulb

syringe. Ready with a glass of water!

I just mix the ALA with some lemonaid or cranberry juice..... I put about

45cc of juice in a cup break open 2- 50mg capsules and stir it up. It does

not really disolve so you have to keep stiring. I have gotten a bunch of

medicine syringes from the pharmacy and I preload each of them with 5mg of

this mixture and store them in a ziploc in the refig. that way I have 24 hrs

worth ready to go.

By the way, Larry how is Kirkman coming with a liquad ALA???

I doubt Nate would drink anything that tasted funny or had something

floating in it...I have tried that before...lol...I hate to spend 26$

and then he won't take it...going to check GNC and see if they have a

liquid. But thanks.

Hi ,

The ALA I have been buying is under $20 (don't know exact

price) for 60 capsules 100 mg each.

Brainchild Nutritionals (brainchildnutritionals.com) sells a liquid ALA.

An 8 oz bottle for $10.00 plus 4.50 S/H. One tsp

equals 16 mg ALA. (According to a standard conversion

chart one 8 oz bottle contains 48 teaspoons. At 16 mg per teaspoon, that's

768 mg in the whole bottle.) It would be a LOT

cheaper to mix your own (from capsules).

Brainchild Nutritional's phone number is: (831) 465-0104

(M-F, 9-5 PST.) email address: postmaster@...

Yes, what about mixing the capsule contents in a bit of pearsauce? You

couldn't mix it up ahead of time, but it wouldn't take long to prepare and

it's easier to spoon a bit of something into a child than to get them to

drink it (at least, that's been my experience).

Could try something like that too. He isn't much on eating mushy

stuff like that...has a sensory intregration disorder and won't eat

certain foods because of how they feel in his mouth. I was thinking

mashed potatoes he loves those...cause their warm not cold (I know

weird kid..lol) but I don't fix mashed potatoes everyday. Can't

sneak stuff in his juice anymore either. He used to refuse to take

his liquid antibotic or tyneol when he was sick so I would sneak it

in his juice..back when he was still using a sippy cup and couldn't

really see what was in it that well. The only time he uses his sippy

cup now is at bedtime and I tried smashing up a vitamine once and

putting it in there but it plugged up the cup and no juice would come

out.

I wish I could just get him to take pills. He gags really easily and

is afraid he will choke on them unless they are very tiny. He would

rather chew up a pill first. Darn. Well I will figure out something.

i hope. Thanks .

Hi again ,

You can also mix it into " harder " foods: peanut butter,

coleslaw, cereal, anything he will eat. Of course, you do have

to see that the food it is in all gets eaten :(

If you are mixing it up one dose at a time, you can mix it

into anything you want.

If you are premixing (according to Andy) then ALA is " pretty

stable " , but DMSA is more subject to oxidation and should be

mixed into acidic stuff (such as oreange juice of pineapple

juice). Premix only a few doses and then use them up.

good luck!

That sounds like a good idea...he eats jelly sandwiched. I put the

jelly down the middle of the bread and fold it in half. He used to

get peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but I think he was possibly

having allergies with the peanut butter...that was one food he wasn't

tested for. Since he is allergic to yeast...peanut butter can be a

moldy type of food which he is suppose to avoid those types of

foods. The jelly may mask any funny taste too...I hope. Thanks.

Hello :

I just returned from visiting some friends in CA and one of them has a

son with autism. She is doing the gambit of stuff for him. One thing I

noticed, as I spent a day in the life of my friend, is that she takes

many of the capsules of " stuff " and puts it either on toast with

appropriate butter and jelly, or she buys these special " yummy bears "

splits them open and pulls open the capsules and pours the contents into

them for her son to take. Hope this may give you some more options.

In Christ's love and mine...Jen : )

There are many many questions, and I want

to be open to reports from parents as well as from any scientists who

might

be willing to approach this arena. Jaquelyn

*******

I think that determining individual needs and imbalances and

balancing electrolytes,

essential minerals, essential fatty acids, dealing with detox system

problems, intestinal issues, etc. are extremely important in addition to

avoiding future toxic exposures and reducing toxic body burdens. I

think tests and nutritional methods are major things to concentrate on,

along with avoiding more damage. We need more compilation of what

helps and what hurts and why when that occurs.

I agree with Dr. Jaquelyn that it is important to remain open to what

the actual patients or parents are saying, and experiencing, even when

it is contrary to what one expects to hear.

It is of course also important to elicit adequate detail from them to

know EXACTLY what they did, so as to stay out of the pitfall of

demonizing some chelating agents due to other physician's

inappropriate prescribing practices.

It is also important to remain open to " the basics " of biochemistry

and pharmacokinetics so not too much has to be learned through

unfortunate patient experiences.

All that said, the world is a very complicated place and while I make

certain suggestions because I am sure they will work well for most

people, and are the best choices out there, if you just happen to be

doing really well with exactly the opposite approach, stick with it.

The point of all this studying, theorizing and debating is to get all

the sick people better.

I apologize if I was rude, it was not entirly focused toward you Margaret...

Even though it was in response to your email. I guess Wayne Obie coming

along and attacking what Andy has been teaching us for months, hit me also

the wrong way.

I too want to hear why people disagree, and what they think, and to Learn

from each other. But there is a difference between that and signing on today

and telling us that someone who has been helping all of us is wrong, without

any real reasons or knowing what we here on this list are about! And then

you asking once again for proof was the culmanation of a very bad two days

for me. I know how many nights I have sat at the computer reading different

archieves until 2 or 3 in the morning, and then back up at 7, trying to

figure out how to " fix " Grace!!! Ask specific questions, but none of us can

give you " proof " except our own.... And you also have to find your own

" proof " We can't find it for you! Maybe you should tell DH to get on the

internet and find you " proof " that you should'nt do it! You may just have to

start at message #1 and just start reading..... That's what I have done on

this list and others, I admitt I did not get thru all the mercury ones

but.... ;-)

The real answer to your question is there is " no Proof " but then again there

is no " proof " that imunizations cause any of these problems but I bet 99% of

the people here will tell you that " they know they do!!!! "

You have to be able to come to the place where you can even do one round

with a urine or stool test to see the " proof " of what is in your child,

unfortunatly because of the way these metals hide its pretty much the only

way.

I try and post often the little things Grace, you just have to read.

see page 52 of my book (Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment,

described at http://hometown.aol.com/noamalgam) and the general

discussion of side effects on this list.

Not all the side effects are unpleasant. I usually found ALA

euphoric. I had a great time - everyone ELSE thought I was acting

pretty wierd while I was taking it though.

4 times a day. Very important, that 4 times a day bit. It is a LOT

easier if you find a nice pill minder chest that has 4 compartments

per day. Make sure to get a big one (or even two).

Hey Jane,

Good luck, most definately!

I tell you, I was VERY nervous. I was --um-- like waiting to see if

I was gonna MELT or grow a tail or something. A grand experiment,

but reading about " redistribution " had me worried. That nervousness

really only lasted 2 or 3 rounds for me. I've had a few questions

and issues since, but at a much lower level of emotional intensity.

I don't know what you should expect, I'm sure you will have different

reactions and issues. But for me it has not been too

bad. The waking up at night is no fun, but you are probably already

doing that, right? so no extra work there. Heck, if you and the kiddo

are on the same schedule, that seems almost convienient!

I think that all the parents who are treating BOTH themselves and

kids at the same time should get some sort of " extra credit " or

something!

I tend to get some mild insomnia starting about day 3 on and it lasts

a few days. I " just recover " on sleep by the next week. I'm mostly

doing 3/11 now, which gives me more of a break. On 3/4 I was tired

a lot during the day. (I still am on 3/11, but only 1/2 the time!)

As you may have read I've had LOTS of skin allergies/reactions the

entire last 6 months (while chelating) --- this is something I've had

" off and on " anyway, and I really don't know if it is related to chelation.

Same story with getting sick more than usual.

Again good luck, and let us all know how it goes.

best,

:) Moria

LOL, Andy. I was told that , I was " entirely too perky " while on it.

It made me absolutely joyful even after being up for two nights.

I think I wrote you that I thought we should bottle it as a Prozac

competitor. This ALA stuff is terrific. I look forward to my next

round on Monday after having taken a few weeks off. Cheers !
