Guest guest
What county are you in?Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryDate: Wed, 13 Jan 2010 14:18:10 -0000To: <autism-georgia >Subject: Desperate! Help school not helping My son is 15 severe, self abusive, non verbal, and in diapers. In my opinion , teachers and doctors they say the most severe they have ever seen. I am sure there are kids as severe as him ,just havent seen any here in my area. This school year has been awful for my son. Firt a new teacher took over the classroom. He has had the same 1 on 1 for the last 2 years. The new teacher decided to move his 1 on 1 to the other room ( get this*** because he couldnt grow w the 1 on 1 and she babied him) !!! Well since she was moved , almost everyday he comes home w bruises and his whole attitude has changed . He has got worse!! Not eting , not sleeping and hitting him and others. Keep in mind that when his 1 on 1 was taken now he has been through two more subs, with the new teacher still in the classroom. The spec ed dpt tells me hes not able to get 1 on 1 . They cant do this for every child. I know kids myself that get a 1 on 1 and are not severe at all. I am furious . My poor child is having to go through all these changes and next year they want to throw him in high school. Hes not prepared. On Jan 21 they are having a behavior intervention plan. Who can I contact? What are our rights? I feel so helpless, I can only imaginee what my son is going through!! He has regressed. His 1 on 1 they took away had him finally walking w out assistance and visiting the library , riding a bike in PE and learning to walk w out her holding his hand. Now he dont even go out of the classroom. Is there a lawyer? What about the scholarship? I am desperate. Please help !! Thank you and I apologize for being long... Guest guest
Does he have an IEP that says he needs a 1 on 1? It seems that should over ride anything the teacher suggests. Contact the closest Georgia Autism Society chapter to see if they know of someone who can help. You may also want to get with his doctor to see if he can write a letter saying he needs his 1 on 1 back for his well being. I don't know of any attorneys in the Augusta area that handle this, but I know a few lawyers, and I can see if they know someone who does. Feel free to email me directly. Good luck! Guest guest
Dr. Montgomery of Reinforcement Unlimited in Woodstock, GA. Call him re: going to the intervention plan with you on 1/21! I am sure you will have to meet with him first to go over the details, but it is my understanding that this is part of what he does. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
