Guest guest
Called 's school and have a meeting this Friday. Gosh, that guidance counselor can go on and on! I told her what I was calling about and she got into the " extended time " on state tests, had to wait to get a word in that it was on " classroom " tests only that I was calling, and on and on. I also told her that I would like to get more specific on the 504 Plan as it doesn't even mention 's OCD (surprise!) just his dysgraphia. And that I wanted the OCD on there for when the high school receives it next year as the OCD is what primarily causes his problems. - Note that everything we put in for the dysgraphia pretty much covered any OCD problems (extra time on work, tests, etc.) so just wasn't put on the 504. She said that we didn't need to do that now as the middle school can't write the plan for the high school as they don't know what services are offered/allowed. SOOOOO.... I called the high school to make sure. And told the guidance counselor that my concern was the 504 not currently addressing the OCD and asked are we just to " scratch " the current 504 and start over??? She said that we'll meet before the first day of school and also that the teachers will probably want to wait a couple weeks to observe in the classroom before getting too specific. So I'm to call in August for the meeting. And that if needed he might keep some of the modifications from the current 504. So that gives me lots of time to get ready but I know that I'll still be running around frantically on August 1, wondering what lies ahead and trying to prepare! Anyone else reading this have anything change (IEP, 504) between the middle & high school transition?
