Guest guest
I completely agree- I posted this questionaire about substance abuse just as an FYI because I think again some medical professionals misunderstand chronic pain patients!! Guest guest
This kind of questionaire might be accurate in evaluating substance abuse in a non-medical situation, however, many medical professionals misdiagnose " substance abuse " problems when applying these criteria to chronic pain patients. What some of them may discover is a case of " pseudoaddiction " by applying the tests listed below. We may exhibit " drug seeking " behavior as one who thirsts seeks water. We may be damn angry when a nosy pharmacist refuses our legal Rx or otherwise interferes with our getting necessary pain relief. Our dosage will certainly increase over time...that's a naturally occuring side effect of opiod medication. Many misguided doctors will want us to lower our medication dosages to arbitrary levels, because a chronic pain patient requires opiod medications in levels that would incapacitate a so-called " normal " person. This is why we must be treated by pain specialists. I find it necessary to sometimes use multiple pharmacies because my regular pharmacy does not always have enough of the controlled medication for my needs. I don't normally tell coworkers or family memebers what I take or how much I take because I know the reaction will be one of horror, not because I am ill, but because we live in an opiophobic society created by a pandering media. I could go on, but those of you who understand CP, know what I'm talking about. -- grunt Margaret wrote: > I went to a local health fair that our University hospital > sponsored. Guest guest
Hi Margaret This questionaire reminds me of the old question: " When did you stop beating your wife?
