Do any of your children have meltdowns when they have to dress themselves? Aiden (8) also has cerebral palsy and CAN dress himself but the majority of the time he has a meltdown every time he has to. It is difficult for him, but doable and if I do it for him it wont get any easier for him. and like i told him...'dude, its not cool to have your mom dressing you when your 20, you need to get dressed like a big boy' but he is obsessed with getting dressed like 'NORMAL' people do and rages that he has to sit down to put his pants on instead of standing up....sigh.... thanks, rachel

No, but my daughter has a hard time with me A) telling her what to wear and B)

telling her to change if she's wearing clothing that's dirty, or mismatched.

She has favorite items, and severally lacks the ability to open her dresser (not

a real disability, just a " it's so much easier to grab clothing from the floor "

kind of thing). At least 3 days a week, she'll grab the shirt she wore the day

before off the floor.

If I lay something out for her before she gets dressed, I have a good chance of

her wearing it. If I hand her something to change into, or ask her to change

into something different, we can have some real issues.
