Guest guest
<<< The Oxycontin is the best pain med I've been on so far, but it's not doing what I expected it to do. >>> Kathy, If the Oxycontin does work some then I would ask your doctor for a higher dose (you really aren't taking a lot) and also to take every 8 hours. If that doesn't work then you might try something else. I think too many people think a medication is not working and the real problem is that they aren't taking a high enough dose to really have it work. The oxy must be doing something or you wouldn't have said it's the best you've been on so far. JMHO...best of luck Ann
Guest guest
Just to set the record straight - at least for me - MS Contin is not stronger than oxycontin. In my opinion Oxycontin is way stronger than MS Contin or Avinza. Morphine in the tablet form does not transform itself like the way it does intravenously. It is much less addictive - My opinion - and much less cloudy on the mind. But while it has it's good side, it does not control pain as well as oxy. Morphine taken intravenously is a very different story. At least in my experience. -Jeff
Guest guest
Sorry - I didn't cut out any of the message. I guess I'm somewhat talkative today, but I actually asked my doctor why other doctors do that. (He's such a nice guy) Anyway he explained that it is a " Standard of Treatment) for the area. In other words, if many doctors in the area only write scripts for say 60 5mg vicoden - then most doctors will be aware of the general guidelines for the area and not exceed it. Many of them feel that if they exceed that Standard of Treatment - it exposes them to scrutiny from the DEA. Sorry to butt in. -Jeff
Guest guest
Kathy, you did not mention the disorders for which you are taking so much pain medication. Could you please list those disorders? I feel it would make it easier to grasp your situation in its entirety. Guest guest
Kathy, you seem to be taking a lot of medications for just asthma. What other disorders do you have? I think I can offer some suggestions but I'd like to get the whole picture first.
