Guest guest
Nadine, I am not optimistic about the possibility of support groups in Europe. It just doesn't seem to be done. The few support groups I have heard of here in France seemed to be very dysfunctional. I think it is a cultural problem. Maybe it isn't that way in Denmark, good luck. On the other hand, when I have just started talking about problems with friends (not co-workers who could use it against me), I have had a very good reception. They are glad to be able to talk about their own experiences, and it seems almost everybody has a BPD somewhere in their family. - Dan
Guest guest
Dan, I hope you're wrong, we'll see. I was part of an interesting women's group in England. Well, the women in it were fantastic but the therapist was a control freak...some sort of PD I'm sure. Hmm, well that makes it dysfunctional, doesn't it? All I can do is try because Dnaish people are even more reserved than the English and so no personal conversations are going to be happening anytime soon. Besides, I'm good at banging my head against walls to see what happens. A gift from nada. Nadine > > Nadine, I am not optimistic about the possibility of support groups > in Europe. Guest guest
Jana you truly are the link queen. Nothing available at the moment, but could possibly use it as a resource to try and start something. Thanks. Guest guest
Nadine, If you find a group or start one let me know how you did it. Our local Baha'i Faith community had a " My Home " workshop last year, which works like a group for couples. We learned about the crucial importance of consultation within a couple, and it quickly became apparent that that was lacking between me and my wife. My wife couldn't comprehend the concept of consultation. We even tried communicating exclusively in French for a week, to see if our different regional versions of American English was a problem. It didn't make any difference. I came out of the group more frustrated than I went in. - Dan
