Guest guest Posted May 15, 2012 Report Share Posted May 15, 2012 Roots & Wings Family Friendly Fundraiser Saturday, June 2nd from 1-5pm at the Last Unicorn 536 Ridge Rd Chapel Hill, NC 27517 Community gathers at the Last Unicorn for a fundraising event to benefit inclusive arts programs for students at Jordan Lake School of the Arts. Local Legend Gaines Steer hosts Roots & Wings, at his one of a kind estate featuring architectural salvage, butterfly release,storytelling, music and the Traveling Chairs art exhibit by the JLSA students. Esteemed painter Nathalie Worthington will be present with work for sale, and Gaines will be heading children and family activities such as a medicine wheel. JLSA instructor Sharon Cornoyuer will provide a yoga demonstration. Treats will be provided by Bean & Barrel and Sweet Angeline's baking services. Come and enjoy the arts, music, and local lore with friends throughout the day. Tickets are $20 per person for the event, including food and beverages. All funds raised go directly to artists for workshops with the students. This year's workshops are a yoga field day in Duke Gardens with Sharon Cornoyuer, an Emerging Artist workshop featuring an up and coming local artist, and horticulture with Gaines himself.
