Guest guest
I actually have a friend with several family members who own pig farms up in MN. Apparently, with the swine flu, the bottom has dropped out of the pork export market. I didn’t realize how much pork we send overseas. But people all around the world have erroneously thought that the swine flu may be linked to eating pork, so they are reluctant to eat pork. So, farmers are not getting hardly anything for their pigs, so they are tending not to butcher. If they did butcher a set (they raise 2-3 cycles per year), they are tending not to purchase new pigs. And those who have pig nurseries used to get $12-25 per baby, now can barely get $6. I don’t know how directly this affects Armour thyroid. While it may be related to the current shortage, this isn’t the first time there have been shortages from Armour.

Guest guest
I'm keeping them. I happen to be way ahead on Armour at the moment, so if nothing else, I can mix them in to extend my Armour. I will try them for a week - maybe next week. OINK! Marti Re: Armour shortage A different brand of dessicated thyroid, probably the only one currently being produced. Please take them and report back to us. They may be our final lifeline until Forest and RLC get back on track. > > Caremark switched my Armour to something with " 021 " on it. Guest guest
My doctor approved this change... as I said, I will be the guinea pig, but not until next week. Guest guest
Does anyone know if this natural thyroid is gluten-free? I ask because in the past the generic Qualitest was not. Another insanity of the FDA IMHO is that they do not require the drug companies to disclose source ingredients or potential allergens....so, folks can end up taking something that's supposed to make you well that can make you sicker. I also find it very odd that the time-cap labs website does not have any info on the thyroid tablets...http://www.timecaplabs.com/rx.html I can't seem to find the ingredients listed anywhere. So, I am wondering if what folks are finding isn't the end of stock - Shomon mentions in this article that the FDA has shutdown Time-Cap: http://thyroid.about.com/b/2009/08/19/fda-desiccated-thyroid-armour-nature-throi\ d.htm FYI...here's a good webpage with pictures of all the various natural thyroid tablets: http://medscape.net/druginfo/pricebrandimage?cid=med & drugid=3694 & drugname=Armour\ +Thyroid+Oral & monotype=pricebrandimage tinyurl: http://tinyurl.com/lk5xkh Does anyone know if there are also shortages in other countries? Guest guest
I have sent an inquiry to Major pharmaceuticals. One of the questions was about inactive ingredients. If and when I get a reply, I will post it. The TCL website would not show the thyroid info, because they are no longer allowed to make it. > >> > My doctor approved this change... as I said, I will be the guinea pig, but > > not until next week.> > > > Marti> > > > Re: Re: Armour shortage> > > > > > > Call them and ask.
