Guest guest
Christel, I want to make sure I'm understanding this the right way...so your theory is that even in the " imbalances " section of the stool analysis report, these bacteria could be causing issues? I know I asked Pam at Great Plains to explain this section to me because I was concerned, but she said it was fine. Dr. Mumper never commented on them either. but... (with diagnosed ASD) has gamma strep at 2+. My other little guy, Carson (NT, but I think with OCD tendencies galore) has alpha haemolytic strep at 3+ and I have gamma strep at 4+. We all have at least some OCD tendencies. Carson's are worse than 's. I don't think the probios we were using at the time of testing had strep strains, but I can double check today at the store. was tested for PANDAS, but was normal. What are ASO titers? and Levi's story was great. At what point did you feel comfortable presenting him as recovered? We are pretty sure that would have his autism diagnosis dropped at this point, but we don't want to do it until we can also put all of this biomedical junk behind us. I guess we just don't feel like we're there yet, afraid of a relapse if something gets messed up biomedically...it's weird that it's a more difficult decision for us to make than getting the diagnosis in the first place. Your story was definitely inspiring. I can't wait to get ours out there...in time Kari -- In mb12 valtrex , " Christel King " wrote: > > you don't want it that high, I have put a therory out there with this line and probotics adding it the issues, does your probotics have the strep line in it? does your child have tics or OCD issues? does he struggle with strep throat at all? have you ever had ASO titers done? > > > > > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > http://www.myspace.com/christelking > http://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes > digestive stool analysis-help understanding > > > On a Genova Digestive stool analysis, under microbiology-ADDITIONAL BACTERIA- my sons > test says alpha haemolytic streptococcus, NP 4 +. > Does anyone know what this means? Guest guest
-Just to add: my son has a pos+ ASO titer, and is now being treated for PANDAS. This stool test was performed prior to that, and even prior to using probiotics. I was wondering about strep IN THE GUT, as I recently read one of Stans files posted by a mom who cured her child's PANDAS with Diflucan and two other antifungals. Thats where my head is at-is this showing a strain in the gut, and what is non-pathogen? -- In mb12 valtrex , " karicreehan " wrote: > > Christel, > > I want to make sure I'm understanding this the right way...so your > theory is that even in the " imbalances " section of the stool analysis > report, these bacteria could be causing issues? Guest guest
HERE IS THE FILE: It is called " one familys recovery from Pandas " or something close to that : My son tested positive on the PANDAS panel from Immunosciences Lab three years ago. He had three episodes of PANDAS (sudden onset severe OCD lasting 8-12 days) in 10 mos. He had high titers to strep as well as antibodies to myelin basic protein and other brain cells tested for on the panel. He never had strep throat. All the cultures were negative. My DAN! consulted with Dr. Usman who was thinking that it was due to strep in the gut vs. the throat. He also had clostridia. So after spending a huge amount for oral IG which did nothing, we did a three day course of gentamycin and vancomycin with diflucan followed by loading with lots of probiotics. That was three years ago and we have not had another episode since. From: " xxxxx Date: Fri May 12, 2006 7:54am(PDT) Subject: Re: high strep titers His DAN's nurse just called and said they are going to do a PANDA's test with such high titers and if it comes back positive that will justify IVIG to be covered by insurance for treatment. Yes, my son has OCD and Focus issues. Thanks, xxxxxxx > > > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > http://www.myspace.com/christelking > http://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes > digestive stool analysis-help understanding > > > > > > On a Genova Digestive stool analysis, under > microbiology-ADDITIONAL BACTERIA- my sons > > test says alpha haemolytic streptococcus, NP 4 +. > > Does anyone know what this means? Guest guest
-ANy idea what might indicate if the strep is acually in the gut ? I will ask my DAN tomorrow, and see about this 3 day theory. I contacted GENEVA and they said non-pathogenic means not harmful (ok, how can strep in a PANDAS kid not be harmful) and I have to talk to my doctor and they cant answer my questions........It was pos+ ASO and pos+ DNASE and no strep is in the probiotics......-- In mb12 valtrex , " Christel King " wrote: > > yes this is talking about it being in the gut and not regular strep thraot kinda stuff, so yes PANDAS, BUT they treated with antibotics as well and yeast fighters (for if antibotics flare yeast) which is typical of PANDAS....and they also mentioned probotics > > we are saying the same thing > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > http://www.myspace.com/christelking > http://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes > digestive stool analysis-help understanding > > > > > > > > > On a Genova Digestive stool analysis, under > > microbiology-ADDITIONAL BACTERIA- my sons > > > test says alpha haemolytic streptococcus, NP 4 +. > > > Does anyone know what this means? Guest guest
BTW, every so often a species of bacteria is reclassified from normal flora to pathogenic. Enough parents have voiced concerns over any type of strep species that it might just be better to avoid.Caryn Reid
Guest guest
Christel, feel free to pass my comments on to the reporter. I want them to know how much her story means to so many out there. I'm still floored when I go to my local support group meetings that there are parents out there who don't know the good that can come from biomedical intervention. the more we can get in the media, the better We used to struggle with whether or not to let people know about 's diagnosis. It was pretty clear to everyone that something was off, but we hated the label. We've come so far now. I don't hesitate to disclose the label because it is followed by a brief explanation of his recovery. You never know who needs that info. That it's possible. And we live in a small town. so if someone doesn't know now, someday they will...someday when 's on the football field and someone whispers, " Hey...that kid used to have autism " . Word spreads here. At this point, I pretty much assume that people know and they're tiptoeing around not wanting me to know that they know. whatever...I support you in your quest to get our info out there. Like i said. In time, we hope to do the same. and thanks for the info about the strep...I'm going to spend a little time researching in that direction. Thanks!
