Guest guest
Jawahar, I wish you the best with your child. I believe that each of us makes his or her decisions and take actions based on what we consider best for ourselves and those we love. Many of us believe autism has numerous causes and a variety of subgroups. Many of us count heavy metal poisoning among those causes and one we can potentially identify and do something about. As you may have realized many on the list also do ABA, gfcf diet, Son-Rise, NAET, or any of a number of other approaches in addition to exploring the heavy metals issue, and most began the other therapy prior to exploring heavy metals. As an adult recovering from mercury poisoning, I know first hand the damage heavy metals can do (I also had issues with silver, copper, tin, cadmium, lead, antimony, nickel, etc.) I also know that I benefitted from alternative treatment and that the traditional medicine folks only wanted to treat the symptoms rather than the causes. I can but prefer not to imagine where I'd have ended up if I had followed their advice. I also have a 9 y.o. nephew with autism who developed normally until he had the DPT vaccine and then went totally aphasic (no speech) for a year, lost his receptive communication skills, social skills, and more. My grandmother had Alzheimer's Disease. I called the pathologist who did the autopsy and complained because he hadn't checked for aluminum toxicity. He stated that as a pathologist he had more concerns about mercury and considered it so toxic that he and his wife and children had their dental fillings replaced. My mother has nickel toxicity manifesting as Alzheimer's Disease and choses not to do anything about it. That's her choice and I can't do anything about it other than provide information. I feel that by choosing to do nothing about it and not even explore the options, she has chosen to steal my father's retirement since he will does and will serve as her primary caregiver for as long as he can. I also work as Program Manager at a group home for youth with autism. One of whom gets extremely assaultive and injured a staff member so severely she had to have an ambulance take her to the emergency room. One and a half months after he assaulted her, she still needs physical therapy and cannot yet return to full duty at work. Because of the funding he receives and his medical coverage we go to the traditional doctors first. Now the pediatrcian says, " I don't know, ask the neurologist " and the neurologist says, " I don't know, ask the pediatrician " . I have taken him to and consulted many specialists, both traditional and alternative, and will continue to do so in search of someone who can help him, because if we can't serve him and keep him, the other participants, and staff safe, then he has nowhere else to go. Regardless of whether mercury causes autism, I consider heavy metal toxicity unhealthy and the intentional exposure of another human being to known toxins as criminal. I offer the following as reasons mainstream doctors have difficulty with the heavy metals issue in connection with autism. 1) They often have and still do administer vaccines which contain thimersol (mercury). 2) They don't understand or recognize the symptoms of heavy metal poisoning. 3) They receive research grants from or sit on the boards of the vaccine manufacturers 4) They would have to admit that they and their cohorts in the ADA have poisoned the public for many years. Would it look worse to admit that they know of mercury's toxic nature and used it anyway or to say they never knew it had toxic properties? 5) Most mainstream doctors know very little about autism spectrum disorders. Hope you discover and pursue whatever helps your child reach his or her highest potential.. S
