Guest guest
> > ***Hey Dan, have you ever heard about the Jungian idea > > of " Archetypes " > > Yes, , but I don't know much about it. My Jungian therapist talks mostly about the inner feminine (anima: vulnerable, injured) and the inner destroying mother. ***The anima/animus is an important part of the process to self actualization. The concepts are usually the most difficult to grasp and understand though out of all the parts of the whole self. At least it is for me and I've read and heard that tends to be true for most. I've heard great analysis' of the movie Titanic too. Rose is a Campanion Archetype and the story portrays the classic struggle of the self to seperate itself from the suffocating and destroying mother. As you might recall, Jack (her animus) is a big part of that. I love the scene where she is spitting over the bridge of the ship, exploring the unfeminine and childlike side and in the process totally disgusting her mother. (he he he, see? naughty,..but in a good way,..yup there is a bit of a rebel in me(grin).) I love to challenge th enorms of what is " ok " and " not ok " in society. That is (from what I have learned so far) supposedly the shadow side of the Companion Archetype. > > > Relating to > > Shrek suggests a possibility that you have a " Seeker/Companion " > > Archetype. > > I took the quiz. Companion isn't on it. I come out > Orphan/Warrior/Destroyer. ***You know. I'm having a hard time finding the best test to do that, to determine the type a person tends toward. I had found one before but I need to find it again. There are basically 4 general personal mythology types with which one tends to identify as far as their " life story " , each having a male and female counterparts so totalling 8 in around about way. For example here are the 4 basic Archetypes and their counterparts: (the fisrt is the female and the second is the male) Mother/Father Amazon/Warrior Campanion/Seeker Mediatrix/Sage the other lists of " archetypes " are portions of personality that we all have to varying degrees. We will change and move in and out of these as the need calls for but it most often doesnt change the basic *all around Archetype* that we identify with as our " life story " . So it may be that you test the way you do above because of either one or both reasons, that the test has a bias and where you are at in your life,..as far as coping with what you need to accomplish. One of those may or may not be your *overall* archetype. The types you list seems to reflect exactly where you are right now as far as what you have shared and related to in the group. Feelings of abandonment and the anger that accompanys it along with the need/desire to set it right. In my very layperson opinion of course. ;0) ***My best guesses based on the very little I known so far: > The Wizard of Oz: The Wizard, Dorothy ***Hero, Seeker-self actualization > Little Shop of Horrors: Seymour ***Not familiar with the movie enough to even guess > Bowling for Columbine: ***Dont know if there is an Archetype here but I would imagine it appeals to the side of most people that seek answers and exposing real or perceived injustices/wrongs. I suppose that that type of is why I love the movie Shawshank Redemption so much. > AI: ***Gosh I feel really silly asking, but what is " AI " ? Your mentioning though does reminds me of very much relating to of the OT. It has very much to do with being a champion for the people/causes, something that can be expressed (for anyone) in both good and bad ways. > Harry Potter: Harry, Hermione ***I think there was possibly an analysis of that one at that site too,...or maybe I found it somewhere else? > > On the musical stage there are two characters closer to me than any > I have seen in movies. In the 1998 Paris musical " Notre Dame de > Paris " I am Quasimodo. In " Phantom of the Opera " by Lloyd > Webber I am the Phantom. ***Darn, I feel so lacking in culture here. I wish I was more familiar with these. > > There were old movies of each of these stories, which were like > horror films. I don't relate to the way the characters were > portrayed there. The Disney version of " Notre Dame de Paris " > (Hunchback of Notre Dame) was a total travesty. ***Since I'm not familiar with the originals I would love to hear exactly what appealed to you, the difference. > This is fun. There are lots more if I take time to think about it. > I would like to hear about other people's favorite characters. ***ya, I enjoy this kind of stuff too and would love to hear any other's favorites too . I ponder the possible insights but at the same time I dont take it TOO seriously. Just one more little tool that possibly helps fill in the big picture of who we are and where we are going. :0)

See Spielberg's " AI " (Artificial Intelligence). It is a retelling of " Pinocchio " in a science fiction setting. is a robot who wants to become a real boy. His creator and his surrogate parents are self-serving and abusive. I hope I haven't told too much. - Dan

Only certain types of movies and shows are able to hold my attention for long,..and that depending on my mood too. I'm not much of a TV person, never got into soap operas and such and I'm more of a lover of " real " stories and information. But for some reason that still m ystifies me, I LOVE Smallville. I think it's knowing " the story " but how they go back and fill in all the blanks of HOW it all comes about. I love Lex Luthor too, knowing he becomes the evil nemesis of but watching the redeeming qualities he has and the things that contribute to his eventual choice. I think the music choices also helps in the appeal for me. I don't know, for some reason it captures my interest and I have been a loyal fan in ways I have never been with any other show. I know a lot of fans have the hots for , although I like the character, I know that isn't the basis of appeal to me. So who knows. What I find interesting is not that it does appeal to me as much as why IT does and so many other shows haven't i guess.

LOL thanks for the info ...being involved with horses and dogs most of my life, to me, AI is artificial insemination LOL and I didn't see how that would fit into our conversations :-) Jackie
